The issue Vandrende Pind mentions is also present in 180.42. I have yet to try .60 or .70.

do you have ntune installed? none of the 180.xx drivers worked for me when i had that installed. when i swithed to evga precision everything worked fine. i experienced black screen and reboot when starting a game or ntune in the control panel.

same here i've been running 180.70 with FLC inf.. for a few days now and i didn't see/or haven't had any porbs...

tried and tested so far: X3TC (180.42XG where the best here) its about the same 1 fps less, DMC4 bench they're really stable almost no spikes, Fear combat runs fine and smooth, L4D too, Legendary no probs, GRiD runs fine too, Pure no probs runs great, same goes for TR underworld, COD4.
so all in all they're good for me too :nerd:lol

3dghost, try and remove that nvidia stuff and see if one of the 180.xx drivers will work.

Running these since launch. They play everything like the past 180.xx sets IMO. I see no difference....they work so keepers!

That's what I find baffling, actually -- Isn't that what DirectX is for, having whatever engine still built on a standard that is supposed to be handled by the driver well? Do all these developers do weird things with DirectX they're really not supposed to, then? Just seems strange.

I've always wondered the same thing. Too bad we'll probably not ever get an answer on this. DX10 is supposed to make it even easier but we still see differences in performance between nvidia and amd.

Reverted to 178.24 due to FO3 crashes. 2048x1536@60hz fps lock using fpslimiter0.2 and iFPSClamp=60 in fallout_default.ini and 60 again in dxdiag.

Still get some sound stuttering/lag when loading levels and in certain areas and occasional crash, but, its not as bad as before. FO3 is definately buggy though (save often). Great game though. Excellent loading times (phenomenal), excellent no-lag saving (unique?) and detailed, low-popup long draw-distance world. Shame the texture quality is a bit inconsistant between areas and some npc characters look a bit rubbish. Definately getting into it more than Oblivion. It's the 1st new game in years where I've done an 8hrs+ sitting and still wanted more :D Accidentally attacked someone in Megaton very early on and ended-up killing most/all of the people who live there lol. Nothing bad happened so have carried on from there. At lvl9 atm.

Hope Bethesda release the mapping tools so we can have hi-res texture packs in the near future :) This game has impressed me in a number of ways and the 1st time experience excels that of my 1st run of HL2 (which I didn't think was actually that good tbh). Haven't touched FC2, way too samey and too much trekking although I do like the graphics. Will probably go back to it and try to get to Act2 when i finish FO3.

Half Life death match ftw4ever. The tau = best weapon and mode of transport! :)

HLDM:SOURCE = biggest Valve fail. I'd rather they re-textured the old maps in high-res than try to recreate the experience.

Hope Black Mesa death match keeps the feel!!!

    Rant over.

For Fallout 3 use 180.48 and set in ct panel Maximum Pre-render Frames - 2. Result - no sluttering 100%

Sorry, I just realised that I posted in the wrong thread, my above post was meant for 180.70 thread.

I'll try pre-render and report back. Infact, I use pre-render 0 for maximum responsiveness when gaming online (like HL:DM).

180.43 was actually pretty good for me :)

p.s. I looked at Black Mesa multiplayer maps and my first thoughts was wtf?

I wish they'd get rid of the junk (barrels etc) and stay true to the original maps. I don't want the HL2 feel :( and if they mess up Boot Camp multiplayer map they're going to get strong words from me :p

Duke Nukem Forever will get mixed reactions and be compared to Doom3, Quake4 and Prey. I fear it will be old school by the time it comes out.

We're spoilt by expansive worlds like in Stalker, Crysis, Far Cry 2 and Fall Out 3.

Oh and FALL OUT 3 EDITOR IS COMING!!!
