    Do people still do this?

Folding home is for a good cause but I think people would be more likely to mine for cyber currency.

Humm, from the looks of it, development is in full swing. I do hope that this product is supported for a considerable amount of time unlike some other Google products that were canceled.

That's perfectly fine. The Folding App uses your CPU so you can run it along with mining since mining uses GPUs (AMD ones are powerful, I have read), a win-win situation, right :)

Moreover, there is a third party project that aims to combine Folding@Home and Mining together. It is called CureCoin and you can read about it in these threads:
    CureCoin Development
    CureCoin Progress
    CureCoin Test Phase

If launched, it could bring about a significant change in the scientific community and the computer community too.

So just to be clear - this only works for CPUs, or does it work with GPUs too?

The Chrome Folding App (in the Chrome Web Store) is CPU only.

The V7 F@H Client can use your CPU as well as your GPU, depending on how you have configured it.
