yep look right on the mark
another 500k to go... so slow... Need AMD X100 10090T
guys I thought it might be a good idea for me to join the folding team, which client should I go for with my setup?
hey Khalam what do you want to run it on, i would say run it on the 2600k for now because the ati client is not very effective and will just slow the 2600 down remember that your overclock need to be 100% stable for folding or you will just fail work unit and that will only damage the project
sine up here http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download#ntoc2
get a passkey here http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py
remember to put in guru3d team number in = 69411
run the v7 client here http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=18302
also to run it with the bigadv flag so you get the big unit (most points and work) you will need to add this flag http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=18187
first though just run with smp flag and do 10 normal unit with a passkey to start getting the bonus and keep to the 80% pass rate of sending back completed unit. then switch to the bigadv unit
Can someone tell me how to configure HFM to read PPD from V7 client?? Coz i cant seem to make it work.
that the problem at the moment it wont until harlam who made HFM.net is able to update it and V7 does it in a completely different way so it going to take some time
Oh, okay then.
So for the moment how do i find out how much PPD im getting??
the V7 client will give you a ppd without the bonus at the moment that all we got to go on
I think there might be something wrong with my client
It says Estimated Credit,PPD as unknown.
It's not the Client, it is the Server Code. This feature is supported only by the latest Server Code and not all of them are running the latest Code. The old Server Codes doesn't support this feature.
Regarding the PPD, if you have the TPF (Time taken to complete 1%), then you can use this website to get a rough idea about the PPD.
Got a new quad core 3.2 running SMP2 added and it runs circles around my old athlons and P4s lol. Is there a GPU client that runs as a service like the other clients? I havent ever tried the GPU clients before but i got a radeon 4670 and was thinkin bout tryin it out.
i dont think there is a gpu3 client that can be run as a service but you could see if the V7 client could but unlikely i think, the gpu2 client i think could run as a service but you need the thaat has not got long left
If you have Windows XP, then you can run the GPU Folding as a service. However if you have Vista or 7, then you can't as Microsoft have made it more secure hence the GPUs will not be able to run as a service. It doesn't matter what F@H Client you use as the limitation is from the OS.
Personally, I would suggest that you do this:
A) Run SMP only and check the PPD
B) Run SMP (-smp 3) & GPU (use environment variables) and check PPD
Whichever gives the higher PPD, stick with that.
I'm running the SMP2 and GPU2 clients right now and so far no problems. I don't know the PPD tho cause Fahmon is glitching out for some reason. What does the -smp 3 do, only use 3 cores? And I don't know what the environment variables are. Apparently alot has changed since I started folding lol.
If FahMon is giving you issues, I would recommend that you try HFM.NET which is also a monitoring program with lots of features.
-smp 3 tells it to use only 3 CPUs on the system.
Environment Variables help to reduce the CPU load when folding on the ATI/AMD GPU. You can find more information here.
so after some issues, installed version7 from the FAH site, installed older nvidia drivers to get gpu to work aswell, but... I made it.
Still need to get me a better cooling solution for cpu, but i started calculating, and joined the team.
well come to the team
I see Public beta 3 of V7 is now out and about it's at v7.1.33
good spot athlonite making new thread
