I Fold on 24 computers that run 24/7, no problems besides the heat output.:micro:

    temps looked ok....

82c on my 280gtx under load..
    cpu at 28-32c
power aint a problem with the thermal take 1kw.

my issue was a constant 82c with no rest on my vga.. I would expect nobody here would have this issue folding 24/7, I guess (my limited city&guilds electronics) cpacitors fail with constant stress/load and don't show any signs of failure until dischaged(turned off),
many moons ago the early sky box had the same issues, would be fine forever until unplugged for 5 mins then POP when plugged back in..

I can't take the risk with 3 months warranty left on my 280gtx...

    :(

82c sounds a bit high to me.
If you continue in the future consider 3 things.
    1. use an extra fan to blow air directly on the video card. Vcool has a PCI mounted fan for about 15 bucks that works great.
    2. Download Rivatuner. This program allows you to increase your video card fan speed. Default is 40%. I typically run mine at 70% when folding and the card runs much cooler.
    3. Check your power supply specs. Make sure it exceeds the recommended specs. The GTX280 needs plenty of juice.

1 = more noise and little effect. mobo temp(inside case) 28c
2 = more noise and little effect. 82c is not high underload for 280gtx.
    3 = 1kw Nvidia tri-SLI approved PSU (280 gtx)

this setup should have not failed, but then again is any VGA designed for 100% load 24/7 which even a game never does..

Is a question thats being asked a lot more recently, and the answer should be yes.

Like CPU's and mobo's, those are pretty much made to take that use but whether or not graphics cards are is another thing...

Touchwood, 6 months 24/7 so far.

    Hey,

I'm still here and folding but I have a question, is anybody else getting terribly slow gromacs WUs worth 905 points? That's all I get now and they take about 10 days on my Athlon to complete, is this unnormal?

Crossfire, I haven't noticed any drop in PPDs on the CPU client, do you know what project your current WU is for?

sohaib, please see this thread for more information on folding

Yes, the guru3d info thread :D

It requires updating, roll on the weekend.

Im guessing crossfire is refering to the CPU client (standard single core per client/console), not the SMP CPU client. As there's been an increase in high point, very large work units recently.

Just keep folding, eventually they will run out ;)

I'll even through another two client on the burner.

Oh yeah, good point! Totally forgot how many cores the Athlon has :bonk:

I noticed those new GPU projects give my cards an absolute beating, down about 1000PPD per card on those...

Heh they hurt quite a lot, im down about 1000PPD too which is a fair amount. But dont forget, its about time ATI cards were allowed to compete. Fairly that is.

i downloaded the gpu client from the first page...installed it and tryed to run it and got a message that that beta had run out and it would not run....any chance you can update the link with the newest working gpu client...went to the main website and there are about 4 choices and i have no clue as to which 1 to download.
i want the 1 that also puts it in as a screen saver.
