Same here i'm going to wait t'ill official release no hassle with drivers (hopefully)and enjoy win 8 to the fullest, altough i have to admit i wish the start button didn't come back but thats my opinion i like the clean looks of win 8 desktop alot.

Start button is ok. It only brings you to the metro screen anyway. Only difference being that you can right click, and it gives you more options, one being to shut down, restart.

RTM is the final build. You wont need to re-install anything. When you launch the 8.1 ISO it'll give you the option of doing a fresh install or keep your existing stuff. I did the upgrade and didn't have a problem. It's been running fine for almost a week.

This is a very good read on what is wrong with Windows 8.1 by the guy who does TweakGuides for Windows and games and who was a stout defender of Vista: http://www.tweakguides.com/Windows81_3.html

It's a good read and I found myself agreeing with pretty much everything he has written.

I updated from Vista to Windows 8... Then spent a few months trying to get my PC to run the way I want.. then went out and purchased Windows 7 and everything has been perfect since.

I am not seeing ANY reason why I would want to do the free update from 8 to 8.1

I am quite disappointed with myself for buying Windows 8 on the day of it's release.

So, we're going to bash MS for doing the same thing Google does?

    Loving Windows 8.1

Mind you, I liked Windows 8 (besides the no start menu/boot to desktop)

Win8.1 is even more polished, and even easier on Ram. (Uses 1.1gigs after a fresh install/updated drivers)

    Feels snappier

    No complaints here :)

You can use this in powershell (admin) to install net3.5 from the mounted win8.1 iso

    dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:netfx3 /all /source:X:\sources\sxs /limitaccess"

replace X:\ with your drive letter for win8.1
