I think its just some timing glitch, one m8 with 2700K OC'ed to 4.5Ghz showed as 5.4Ghz

by me it shows few mhz below ~40mhz lower, same on my old Q9450, dunno..

just wanted to mention something random here.

    dx9 fsaaviewer in windows 8 reports 499.51fps

and open and closing a window causes it to drop to 200fps and jump back up.

windows 7 reports 1000fps and doesnt fluctuate like that

nvidia settings are default in both systems.

why cant I reach 1000fps in windows 8?

    using 331.58 drivers.

    lol:)

they should give people the option to upgrade internet explorer 10 to 11 on windows 8.0

some people dont want to upgrade to 8.1 because of issues.

as lest let them upgrade there browser if they want to.

and its not compatibility issue sense windows 7 can run it.

anyway most of my problems have been fixed.

    loving windows 8.1 speeds

After a clean install of 8.1 i noticed a few issues.
Sometimes ,when i power off my computer will BSOD,but not always;most probable after a long time and computers hibernates)
Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power with DRIVER POWER FAILURE .
    Hmm,strange this never happened before.

For the kicks i disabled Samsung Power Option plan, activated Windows's high performance power plan, and until now no BSOD.
Could it be the Samsung software the culprit?
    I need more evidence.

I read about other people having the same problem with OEM power plans...

    and disabling fixed the problem.

    with samsung and asus .

I'm having serious problems with Video playback using flash based players with 8.1 on my laptop.
Kind of like randomly occurring hiccups where the video freezes for half a second and then resumes and catches up.
Thought it was driver related or had to do with ASUS bloatware, but even with a completely squeaky clean fresh installation of 8.1 the problem still persists.
And it did not seem to happen with just Windows 8 or with Windows 7.

    Anyone else experienced this?

I got few BSOD out of nowhere as well, only right before logon screen..

Kmode_execption_fault something,. Quick googgling said either driver (gpu), or ram/cpu OC fault..

It started last week ~ Friday, I re-installed 331.58 and updated USB firmware and then I saw this next morning.. I also installed Razer copperhead driver and that thing is buggy like hell. Must have been all 3, i removed that gpu driver, also razer driver, reset uefi comos.

And now thankfully it didnt happen again.

Those definitely sound like cpu oc or memory related issues. I'd check event viewer for WHEA warnings too.

So what's the Guru3d general verdict on 8.1? I migrated over to my workstation as my main desktop now and it's running Windows 8... which I like less than Windows 7, but it's ok with all the hours of custimising that I put into it to be able to be productive while working on it. 8.1 has a couple features that sound good from a productivity stance, but it also sounds buggy and bad for gamers... thoughts?

I like 8.1. some compatibility issues with certain games and programs, but not bad at all and most of the time there's workarounds.

Fresh installed 8.1 on my Sandy Dell lappy.
Nice and fast, detected my SSD,and seems that it autotuned for it.
    No BSODs until now.
Everything works, just one driver i had to install in W 7 compatbiliy mode.

has anyone had this weird issue. trying to run a program right after logging in before startup items finish loading and suddenly mouse movement becomes jerky and a beeping sound starts coming from the speakers?

I had this happen sometimes on rare occasions. and it stops beeping when the system finishing loading.

I dont think it like its when I rush it.

For me, 8.1 is great except for the Start Screen which we should be able to use the Start Menu when 8.2 is released. So, again for me its great and I don't think I'll have anything at all to complain about when 8.2 is out.
