Countdown to just around 35 minutes from now.
The first ever image of a black hole.
"The image reveals the black hole at the center of Messier 87, a massive galaxy in the nearby Virgo galaxy cluster. This black hole resides 55 million light-years from Earth and has a mass 6.5-billion times that of the Sun."
Why do I suddenly feel so small and irrelevant?
Thanks for the link .
How do you photograph that which has no life?
Looks like anus on fire!
Another score for science, beautiful.
Yeah , and we all know whats coming!!!
Amazing....now just play this music as you read through this thread to add that little bit of awe as the icing on the cake.
what's on the other side of a black hole?
Tesla's time travel theories most likely.
Red Dwarf answered that years ago.
late to the party that is that feeling?
Science throws out the numbers like 1 light year 1000 light years 10 times mass for the sun of 6 billion times the mass sun, but in the end The human mind really cant even comprehend how big that is and it never will on paper maybe it can comphrend it but in reality not a chance.

The new FF icon! No return
i'm not sure there is "other side". Black Hole is a region of space-time where all events lead to the singularity. Tho the contents of the black hole slowly bleed back into our universe through Hawking Radiation until it completely evaporates. At least that's what's thought to be the case, at the moment.
Nice concise explanation of the images.
