just a lil snippet from the creators...
The Age of Empires III engine is a fully DX9, Shader 3.0 compliant engine with more technical bells and whistles than any other PC game to date. As you can see from the screenshots, we have a world that feels bright and sunny, but with a softness and depth that hasn't been seen before. From things like self-shadowing to HDR (high dynamic range) lighting to water that has proper Fresnel reflectance properties, this is a very high-end graphics engine.
again my 6800gt will be able to take advantage of shader 3.0 in yet another title
And it uses Havoc engine too.
Looking forward to it.
Yet another microsoft game....that will probably come out in 2006 if not later.
Hmm, does it worry anybody else that the game might need a 6800 to run at a decent pace?
It's not a "microsoft" game. Microsoft is just the publisher. It's developed by Ensemble.
6800 and equivalents will be commonplace, if not outdated by the time this game gets released.
I thought Ensemble was a Microsoft devision.
Looks nice, gonna need a pretty high powered computer by the looks of it, doesn't keep in tune with the other AOE's.
Sure it's not a hoax or anything, because I didn't realise they were making a new version.
Yeah, Microsoft owns Ensemble - http://www.neoseeker.com/news/story/1028/
Doesnt mean they make bad games though. Every Ensemble game I have ever played has been great.
And no, its not a hoax, they have promotions up for it on their website -
1st line says that its shipping the second half of 2005, so I would expect to see it in stores by this summer if not earlier.
I can almost see a Baldurs Gate style game using an engine like this. If only =p. I loved the first two games, and their expansions. Can't wait for AOE-3.
I wonder how detailed the violence is
