I hope AMD finds a way to use the heavy compute performance of their cards to enable Ray Tracing. I feel that would be so cool. I love the effects.

Forza Horizon 4 has officially gone gold. Additionally, there’s good news for the Aston Martin enthusiasts out there, as Microsoft has announced the Best of Bond Car Pack,
which will launch alongside the game. Given Forza Horizon 4’s UK setting, 007 getting involved isn’t too surprising, but still, it’s a nice treat for Bond fanatics and Anglophiles.
You can get the lowdownon all the rides included in the Bond Car Pack, below.

The Best of Bond Car Pack features 10 cars from the James Bond films, including Goldfinger (1964) and The Man With the Golden Gun (1974), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and more.
The car list features modern classics like the BMW Z8 from The World Is Not Enough as well as a bevy of classic Aston Martin models, including the most-featured car in Bond film history – the Aston Martin DB5.

    • 1964 Aston Martin DB5 inspired by Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), GoldenEye (1995), Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015)
    • 1969 Aston Martin DBS from On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969)
    • 1974 AMC Hornet X Hatchback from The Man With the Golden Gun (1974)
    • 1977 Lotus Esprit S1 from The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
    • 1981 Citroën 2CV6 from For Your Eyes Only (1981)
    • 1986 Aston Martin V8 from The Living Daylights (1987)

YouTube began posting its first test videos that implement the AV1 video CODEC, which aims to significantly reduce video stream bandwidths without sacrificing quality, exceeding the compression standards set by even HEVC.
AV1 provides an architecture for both moving and still images, and Google, which is partly funding its development, foresees a future in which it replaces entrenched standards such as JPEG and H.264.
Besides better compression, its key USP is its royalty-free license, which could translate to tangible operating-cost savings for YouTube and other video streaming services.

YouTube developers posted this playlist with a selection of videos that are encoded in AV1. You may not notice a reduction in your data consumption just yet, because the first batch of videos have been encoded at a very high bitrate to test performance.
Future playlists (which will pop up on YouTube Developers channel), could test the CODEC's other more important aspects, such as data savings.
To watch them, and test YouTube's AV1 player for them, you'll either need Chrome 70 beta or the latest nightly-build of Firefox (64.0a1), which pack AV1 support.

It's not a myth, man. Developers feed it with low rez and high rez images of the game, and it generates a neural network that runs on the Tensor Cores.
It is an awesome tech, and I am sure that AMD will have something similar in 2019.

That guy have a point, when you gaming at 2160p with crisp Image then downscaling (with catchy name) will do not good in terms of IQ.
Its the same as with 4k on PS4.
All we need to wait for 3rd parties reviews.

It's nothing like 4k on the PS4. The closest anogy is that it knows what needs to be displayed due to previous experience, and it fills it that way.

Now it will be like this:
    2080Ti ??
    1080Ti >29000 3Dmarks
    Vega XTX ~27500-28000 3Dmarks
    2080 ~26500-27000 3Dmarks
Vega64 & 56 then rest of the pack.

In the end, Gaming with FreeSync matters most for me :D

    Encased

Dark Crystal Games has launched its Kickstarter for Encased, a post-apocalyptic old school isometric turn-based RPG.
According to the developers, the purpose of crowdfunding this project is to expand the game world and give the developers more room to introduce new and unique game mechanics.

Encased is currently in the pre-alpha stage, and the developers are already confident of the project’s completion. The goal of the crowdfunding campaign is to raise $100,000.
Any revenue collected will be used to refine the game and expand the team. Pledges from fans will expand the main campaign and increase the number of locations available to explore.

A regular play-thru of the main story is estimated at 30 hours. The player will be able to explore more than 100 handcrafted locations and encounter up to 75 unique random events.
Each of the six main factions has its own storyline and various endings.

    Vyacheslav Kozikhin, Studio Head, said:

“Dark Crystal Games is a small studio and our resources are limited.
However with the first stages of development behind us, we are positive we will be able to complete the project, polish the details, and deliver the post-apocalyptic RPG everyone is waiting for.”

    INSOMNIA: The Ark

HeroCraft and Studio Mono have revealed a brand new launch trailer for their upcoming dieselpunk RPG, INSOMNIA: The Ark, which will launch for PC via Steam on September 27th.
The new trailer gives players the best taste yet of the labour-of-love RPG, eight years in the making at Samara, Russia-based developer Studio Mono.

In this new RPG, players will explore a colossal space metropolis brimming with the secrets of a long-gone civilization – with a story that can be completed alongside four NPC companions, with 12 different endings determined by players’ choices throughout the game.

INSOMNIA: The Ark is a dieselpunk sci-fi RPG about the slowly degrading remnants of human society attempting to survive on an abandoned space metropolis.
Players will develop their character, explore handcrafted locations, interact with peculiar NPCs and factions, and try to stay alive.

Here are the game’s key features:

    • Exploration is rewarding… and dangerous – Survive hunger, thirst, fatigue while searching for valuable technology and resources in over 70 unique locations. Pay attention – INSOMNIA’s nuanced world can conceal unexpected quests from treacherous characters, as well as savage enemies and deadly hazards.
    • Personalized journey – Break free from character classes and unwanted grind with a flexible perk system combined with a large amount of craftable items and equipment. Choose your gear wisely – every armor and weapon type in the game has its own tactical virtues and shortcomings.
    • ?hoices matter – Navigate a non-linear storyline with ‘points of no return’ that encourage unorthodox approaches and 12 different story endings. Your character’s chosen background plays a role in how you interact with NPC’s and factions, as well as influences the outcomes of certain quests.
    • A rich universe – Experience a neo-noir world with elements of dieselpunk. Witness man-made apocalyptic landscapes imbued with a dark ambient soundtrack and echoes of a decaying civilization.

    Vanguard: Normandy 1944

Pathfinder Games has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its upcoming hardcore multiplayer title, Vanguard: Normandy 1944.
Powered by CRYENGINE, Vanguard: Normandy 1944 presents authentically recreated battlefields from World War II, where players will experience the intensity of close-quarters firefights in an online multiplayer shooter which rewards teamwork and tactics.

Vanguard: Normandy 1944 promises to deliver infantry combat gameplay where a single bullet can kill and a careless mistake can cost the player and their squad everything. Gamers are given the freedom to complete objectives how they see fit as they take on missions where every life matters and survival is critical to success. Gamers can choose to storm the Normandy coast as the revered British Commandos, take and hold crucial objectives as the elite 6th Airborne, or hold the line as the German Wehrmacht.

According to the press release, Pathfinder Games has developed Vanguard: Normandy 1944 in conjunction with historians who have advised on everything from locations to weapons and uniforms. Players will take on some of the same challenges that were faced during D-Day in an authentic experience which honors, rather than glorifies, the events of World War II.
