Diablo IV in the news !

The wait for Diablo 4 makes the fans of the series now impatient. The last part is already years back and developer Blizzard has since only very poor replenishment.
However, the release is still a long time in coming: Blizzard employees have allegedly already shown the game, but expect that the development will take quite a while.

Diablo 4 is probably one of the most eagerly awaited games from Blizzard - not least because the continuation of the Diablo series has been waiting so long.
The release of the third part is meanwhile already seven years back - since then there was next to a big expansion and a new hero but only little food for the hungry fans. That alone caused many players over the years growing displeasure.
The BlizzCon 2018 then poured even more fuel into the fire: After Blizzard had previously announced "exciting news" to Diablo, the visitors on site and the many spectators in the stream with Diablo Immortal were fed - a mobile game that not only for disappointed faces caused a real shitstorm.

News on Diablo 4, however, remained completely. The reputation of the developer has suffered even a further setback shortly thereafter: CEO Bobby Kotick announced that Activision-Blizzard must dismiss eight percent of his employees - around 800 employees were then without a job. The wave of redundancies also affects many Blizzard Europe employees: 30 percent of them are to be dismissed - a process that is currently not yet completed.
The reason is the poor performance of some games and the fact that they have long since exceeded their zenith and are nearing their end, say Blizzard employees. So what does that mean for Diablo 4?

    Release not before 2020

Some Blizzard employees talk to the French newspaper LeMonde about the company's future and Diablo 4. The staff had already seen the game in an in-house presentation. However, according to her, Diablo 4 would still be a long time in coming: at the earliest, they anticipate a release in 2020
    - and tend to even later. Incidentally, the same applies to a new Overwatch offshoot, which is currently in development. Because of the wave of dismissals, the employees are unsure whether they are still employed until the release of the two games at Blizzard.

    Cyberpunk 2077 E3 2019 demo

CD Project RED’s Alvin Liu stated that the game was running at 1080p on Ultra settings at E3 2019, and with its Ray Tracing effects enabled.

“The game was running on Ultra, but we are continuing to improve our visuals.

The game demo was running at 1080p, but our trailers and publically released assets are at 4K. The UI is designed mostly at 4K (eventually it will entirely be at 4K native), but we have the technology to swap assets and do intelligent scaling to handle 1080p, widescreen, 720p, 1440p, and so on.
We can also design specific UI at 1080p and other resolutions, on a need by need basis, such as on a screen or graphics with heavy icons that might look bad otherwise.”

Regarding the Ray Tracing effects, Alvin Liu claimed that the team used RTX for Ray Traced Emissives, Sky Light, and Ambient Occlusion, though they are still looking into further improving the Ray Tracing effects.

“Ray Tracing was on [in the demo]. We were showing off Ray Traced Emissives, Sky Light, and Ambient Occlusion.
However, I’ve seen super impressive screenshots internally about raytracing (they get sent out in a digest e-mail), so we’re clearly still working on it as they looked more impressive than what I remember seeing in the demo.
Especially at night and with neon reflections.
NVIDIA also has representatives and work with our studio to continue to improve and utilize this technology, similar to Witcher 3 and Hairworks.”

Now as it’s pretty obvious, the E3 2019 demo did not feature all of the performance optimizations that CD Projekt RED will implement in its game.
As such, these PC requirements for running the game at 1080p/Ultra settings do not reflect those for the final product.

Before closing, here is the PC that was used in order to run the Cyberpunk 2077 E3 2019 demo.

    • CPU: Intel i7-8700K @ 3.70 GHz
    • Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-I GAMING
    • RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V, 2x16GB, 3000MHz, CL15
    • GPU: Titan RTX
    • SSD: Samsung 960 Pro 512 GB M.2 PCIe
    • PSU: Corsair SF600 600W

I thought it was min. of 1440p ;)
But we have M. Cerny PS5 & ATI/AMD working on #better implementation of RT.

So to run in at 1440p we need 1000mm2 chip then :p

Here are the game’s key features:

    • Restore Humanity Back to Prosperity-Balancing side-scrolling action and top-down strategy elements, carefully guide each tribe from the clouds above in order to help expand their territory and dispel the dark fog that shrouds their lands. Once each of the creatures’ lairs have been exposed, you must take the role of Helios to fight the monsters head on.
    • Take the Fight to the Enemy-Armed with his sword, shield, and magical archery, Helios will need to confront a range of enemies including goblins, beastmen, bat riders, and more on his way to facing the Younger God that controls them. Defeating these challenging foes will grant Helios new magical powers such as healing herbs and ice shards.
    • Protect the Homeland-Help each tribe determine how to shape their village by utilizing a range of different units, from houses and farms to support the growing population, to building warrior barracks and archer towers to defend themselves against the waves of monster attacks.
    • Help from the Highest Powers-Yuzo Koshiro, the legend behind many classic video game soundtracks, has composed the opening theme to SolSeraph. Additionally, acclaimed writer Jonas Kyrazes (The Talos Principle, The Sea Will Claim Everything) has lent his talents to craft the game’s compelling narrative.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s new engine can push up to 24 million triangles per frame

As Principal Rendering Engineer and Studio Head of Infinity Ward Poland, Michal Drobot, claimed, previous Call of Duty games were pushing around three million polygons per frame and up to around five million.
In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the team raised the artificial limit it had imposed on its game engine to 16-17 million polygons per frame.

Not only that, but the new engine can push up to 24 million triangles per frame, which is described as “silly levels” and was basically done in order to see whether the engine is capable of pushing this amount of triangles per frame.

“Previously, we couldn’t push as many triangles or as much geometry. The new system allows us to push roughly five times more geometry per frame than we used to on consoles.
Previous Call of Duty games were pushing around three million polygons per frame, [up to around] five million. Recently, we raised the artificial limit we had imposed on our game engine; to 16-17 million polygons per frame.
We’ve had it up to silly levels; 24 million triangles per frame, and this is all to ensure we get all the data we have grabbed and match it in the game.”

As we’ve already said, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will take advantage of Photogrammetry and Infinity Ward has also took advantage of Volumetric Lighting.
Moreover, the game will allow players to shoot out the lights in Townhouse; a feature that a respectable amount of games lack these days.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is currently planned for an October 25th release.
