Godfall Ray Tracing Now Enabled on PC, But Only on AMD GPUs; NVIDIA Getting It Later

    -> https://wccftech.com/godfall-ray-tr...but-only-on-amd-gpus-nvidia-getting-it-later/

    Hmm... No comments

    UPD.
    As Counterplay Games stated:

“This quick update, 2.0.95 is just for PC and enables the ability for players to play Godfall with ray tracing on while using applicable AMD GPUs.
Note: players will need to have the latest AMD GPU drivers to enable this. Ray tracing using NVIDIA GPUs will come with a future update.”

"This comes as a huge surprise. Let’s not forget that AMD had previously criticized NVIDIA for using proprietary RT methods in some games.
And even though Godfall will support RT via DXR, the team is making these RT effects exclusive to AMD’s GPUs (at least for now)."

"Welcome to 2020 where everything is different - now we have AMD locking game features to AMD proprietary tech (first Horizon Zero Dawn, now Godfall) in an attempt to mimic Gameworks,
whereas nvidia has gone open (nvidia uses DXR for RT which is compatible with other cards).
And you also have this year AMD locking Smart Access Memory so that only users of both AMD Ryzen and Radeon can benefit that tech, whereas nvidia is working on an open system compatible with all tech.
Funny how AMD's "openness" vanishes as soon as they have the first opportunity."

^^ Lol :eek: for me is a RED Flag, AMD is no more..... :(

    The Riftbreaker

Below you can find some more details about the game’s DX12 Ultimate features:

    Raytraced Shadows
Ray traced shadows allow us to introduce additional shadow casting lights into a scene, that provide much more immersion and detail into the world.
For example, we can add an intense light source to a burning boss creature that walks around the scene and casts deep shadows from all of the details that are present in the world’s geometry, even singular blades of grass are going to cast perfectly detailed shadows.
The environment in The Riftbreaker™ is dynamic and fully destructible, there are no faked light maps for static objects and this is also one of the reasons why real time ray tracing is perfect for the game – it creates a new, perfectly detailed shadow every frame. Another example of how real time ray tracing is used is special events like a comet flying over the player’s head.
The comet is an intense light source moving quickly across the sky and creating a fantastic spectacle of shadows on the ground.
This feature has been implemented using the DirectX® Raytracing (DXR) standard and is available on all GPUs that support DXR.

    Raytraced Ambient Occlusion
Ray traced ambient occlusion is a very advanced rendering technique that simulates the behavior of diffuse lighting being occluded by complex geometry within a scene.
It is an approximation of global illumination that was previously available in offline rendering and wasn’t actually done in real time.
It provides excellent visual results in areas that are covered by dense vegetation or complex rock formations, by creating shade where bounced global illumination lighting should be occluded.
Now thanks to the AMD Radeon™ 6000 series we can enable this technique in The Riftbreaker™ to achieve very detailed shadowing.
This feature has been implemented using the DirectX® Raytracing (DXR) standard and is available on all GPUs that support DXR.

    AMD FidelityFX Variable Shading
Variable rate shading is one of the latest DirectX 12 Ultimate rendering techniques that allows the GPU to select an area of the screen to be rendered at a lower sampling rate.
AMD Fidelity FX Variable Shading allows us to very efficiently select areas of the scene that are low on detail and can be rendered with a lower sampling rate without any visible degradation to the image quality.
Some of these low detail areas can include for example places covered in deep shadow, plain ground textures, or areas of the screen covered by transparent user interface elements.
Thanks to this new rendering technique we can save a lot of GPU power and deliver much higher frame rates to the player.

Confirmed: Cyberpunk 2077 will not support Ray Tracing on AMD’s GPUs at launch

Earlier this month, NVIDIA stated that Cyberpunk 2077 will not have any proprietary NVIDIA Ray Tracing tech, and should work on all DXR-compatible GPUs.
However, Marcin Momot has now confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will not support Ray Tracing on AMD’s latest GPUs at launch.

Yesterday, CDPR released the official Ray Tracing PC requirements for Cyberpunk 2077. These RT requirements only listed NVIDIA’s GPUs though.
And, when a fan asked about the Ray Tracing requirements for AMD GPUs, Marcin Momot replied by saying that the game will not support RT on AMD at launch.

Not for the release but we are working together with AMD to introduce this feature as soon as we can.

We seriously don’t know why CD Projekt RED is locking the game’s Ray Tracing effects on NVIDIA’s hardware. Theoretically, these effects should work fine on AMD’s GPUs.
After all, we’ve seen this in older games. In fact, AMD itself said that the RX 6000-series RDNA 2 ‘Big Navi’ GPU lineup will support Ray Tracing in existing titles.

My guess is that these Ray Tracing effects are so demanding that they can only run acceptably on both NVIDIA and AMD GPUs with DLSS or Super Resolution.
As we know, AMD’s answer to DLSS is not ready yet, so this could be one of the reasons why CD Projekt RED has decided to disable support for RT on AMD’s GPUs.

Hitman 3 will get Ray Tracing

IO Interactive has announced that Hitman 3 will receive Ray Tracing support via a post-launch update in 2021.
In addition, the team has announced a partnership with Intel in order to further optimize the game on the PC.

According to the team, Hitman 3 will receive updates, tweaks and improvements that will improve the experience of playing on a high-end PC and multi-core CPUs.

“These optimizations include enhancing HITMAN 3 for PC players with 8+ core CPUs. For example, you’ll be able to spot more crowds in Dubai or experience more complex destructibility in Dartmoor.
We’re also introducing Variable Rate Shading (VRS); a technique that allows us to prioritize GPU resources where they have the biggest impact.
On top of that, we will also implement Ray Tracing after the launch of the game, later in 2021.”

Steam Input API Adds PS5 Controller Support

Thanks to our most recent Steam client update, all games currently using the Steam Input API are now fully compatible with the new PS5 controller -
with no developer updates required, it just works.

Full support for the LED, trackpad, rumble and gyro features are available for players to configure in games such as Death Stranding, No Man's Sky, Horizon: Zero Dawn and more.
This support is now available for players opted into the public beta Steam desktop client with platform wide support targeted to ship after further testing.

    What is Steam Input API?

In short, Steam Input API offer gamers a significantly enhanced experience with a limited developer investment. These include:
    • Seamless player experience with correct glyphs for all devices, including any remapping.
    • Support for advanced features such as motion controls, trackpads, additional buttons.
    • Updates just work. Without any additional work required of the developer, when new features and/or devices are added to the API, they will "just work" with these titles.
The PS5 controller joins over 200 input devices supported by the API, including PS4 controller, Switch Pro controller, fight sticks, race wheels, dance pads, and just about any other controller imaginable.
