Hello I have a xfx 9600gt and I want to update the bios due to the 100% fan speed during bootup issue. XFX says there isn't a bios update available for this model (pv-t94p-ydf4) I've downloaded another XFX 9600GT bios but it seems to be incompatible: Current - Version:62.94.11.00.00 ID:10DE:0622:1682:2362 G94 Board - 05450010 (Normal Board) Compare with - Version:62.94.68.00.96 ID:10DE:0622:1682:4012 G94 Board - 05450019 (Normal Board) ERROR: Mismatch at offset 0x00000002 I absolutely HATE the 100% fan speed during bootup...is there some way I can fix it from within Win7 x64?
Use http://downloads.guru3d.com/NVIDIA-BIOS-Editor-v5.2-%28nibitor%29_d2050.html to edit the downloaded bios's device ID to match yours. and use nvflash to update, 1. boot to floppy or USB 2. type nvflash -b old.rom to backup your bios 3. type nvflash -p -u -f newbios.rom 4. Reset computer 5. Reinstall drivers if needed.
Cool thanks! I edited it to match everything under adv. info in nibitor, but I get this error upon flashing now: Checking for matches between display adapter(s) and image(s)... Adapter: GeForce 9600 GT (10DE,0622,1682,2362) H:NRM B:01,PCI,D:00,F:00 WARNING: Firmware image Board ID (9431) does not match adapter Board ID (9404). ERROR: Board ID mismatch Is this normal? Should I try and force it to continue anyway?
Ok so I ended up modifying its current BIOS, but I can't seem to fix the high fan speed problem. Do I need to set the PWM freq to low maybe? Under "temperatures" I have everything set to 35% and under the IC settings it's set to a fixed 35% and high freq PWM.
All of those values are set to 35% but I still get 100% fan speed during bootup until the driver is loaded.
Ehm , let me first say this: 1- You shouldn't change that setting. It's kinda Fail-safe to keep your graphics card cool. 2- Are you using a 9600GT Mobile graphics card or a actual PCI-E 9600GT graphics card. 3- If you using 9600 Mobile , you would probably brick your graphics card if ya try to flash it with a normal PCI-E 9600GT BIOS. (mainly cause the actual way the card is build is completely different. Oké, but if you are perfectly oké with flashing it with an incompatible BIOS. I could give you my BIOS Here is a screen shot of my GPU-Bios of my card:
Dude then maybe change your Video-card in your signature to a 9600GT and not a 9600M GT , cause M stands for mobile
