Finally time for an upgrade

I pretty much stopped playing video games about 2010 and my time is consumed with Warhammer 40k, meatspace version.

I have not done any hardware upgrades in years!

I bought a couple 40k games, mainly Regicide and my poor old 8800GT just can't handle it.

Didn't want to spend much, so I opted for a 2gb (only use a single 1080p monitor) Asus RX 460 OC for under $100. Been out of the loop on hardware for a few years, hope that was a good purchase.

Also finally upgrading my son's computer from his original Core 2 6300 and XP with an A6-5400k, 8gb ram and the same RX 460. He mainly wants to play The Crew (has a 1280x1024 monitor).

Can't wait to get started.

 

2GB is really low, 4gb is the bare minimum tbh.

Depends on the title, you may have issues with 2gb.

 

you should have got a 470 minimum bro
it doubles the FPS of the 460
but you already got it so you can still enjoy it

 

Eh it's also double the price, (the 460 is only $85 after rebate) so it should get much better performance.

 

His CPU wont be able to feed a 470, it probably only just manages to feed the 460.
