Mine would quite possibly have to be the Streets of Rage series. Best music ever.

On a side note, if anyone really likes all sorts of video game music, my friends brother runs a video game music radio located at www.vgamp.com

Half Life 1 and 2 also had some pretty serious tunes as well... but Streets of Rage (1 - 3) for the Genesis was by far the best :D

    Whats your fav?

EDIT: OH YEAH! The original Doom was awesome as well. :D

I'd go with Icewind Dale (the first one), never heard anything so good come from a game before (or since).

I'd have to say that the awesome tunes of Wing Commander II rank as my all time favorite. The music that plays when you lock a torpedo onto an enemy starbase is freaking awesome!

Coming close behind that are the tunes from Doom I and II. After that, there's a whole slew of them.

As soon as I saw the title of this thread, the Streets of Rage series was the first thing I thought of! The music was so good.

Have you tried the Streets of Rage remake yet, it includes remixed versions of the original music:

Also I'd say many C64 games - for example Lightforce, Glider Rider, Commando, Creatures 2, Starace, Last Ninja etc. - all had really memorable tunes.

    Sweet Ill check that out.

Ive wanted to make a Streets of Rage mod for a game... but I simply dont have the time, sadly.

It seems as though some of the best music for games has been older titles... have companies that create newer games forgotten about how important music is to a game?

I think the morrowind music is awesome, and i seem to remember that red alert had a sample on the rage against the machine song wake up in it. That gets serious kudos in my opinion.

The main menu tune in Max Payne 1. I've never heard better music than that in a game. I also liked some of the in-game Max Payne 2 tunes.

The Unreal Tournament:GOTY tunes. Really awesome music.

Yes, the Max Payne theme is a classic, and my definitive favourite. I also liked the darkish, classical tunes of Fahrenheit.

For some reason I had forgotten about UT (and 2K3/4) music. I always liked it :)

I remember spending countless hours playing the Liandri Complex with Instagib and Volatile weapons, listening to that levels cool music. :D Good times.

Yeah baby!! That's some of the best music in the entire UT series. Everytime I tried a new mod/mutator, I tried it in that level!

Fahrenheit had good atmospheric music. It was composed by the same dude who did the music for Mulholland Drive

Red Alert 1 also had awesome tunes, as did Max Payne 1 & 2
