I was wondering if you guys could tell me the fastest Nvidia driver you've ever used. Official, modded or beta. Thanks

Well it's a very open question...

    Fastest driver for what card

    Fastest driver for what application

    Seemingly fastest driver

Fastest because you can overclock furthest

Apparently 77.30 are the fastest for alot of people with 66xx series cards but I had some problems. After messing around with almost every type/version, I definetly suggest sticking with the official drivers 77.72, 77.74, and 77.77 perform very well.

Some forceware beta drivers arn't too bad but again, the official drivers will create wayyyy less problems and run with a better mix of fps/visuals quality IMHO.

All drivers are fast. Ten or so fps difference don't mean diddly squat. The trick is which driver does your system like? Find that one and you will have a happy computer. The benches are skewed anyway so I place 0 value on 3d Mark. It doesn't test opengl anyhow. What a waste.

I wondered the same thing: the best/fastest/IQ drivers for my PNY Verto 6600gt agp. Seems that the WHQL 77.77 and the Forceware Beta 80.40's have been the best for me. One thing though that I have noticed in the 3DMark05 Benchmark "Canyon Flight" that the shadows are REALLY Jaggy, especially when they run across the cliffs or the face of the captain. Anyone else have these issues? They should look smooth as silk....All my games look gorgeous as usual, but again, apart from that issue, the WHQL 77.77's are best for me....

    My two cents.....

    jeeka.

77.77 official best alround driver 4 gaming 3dmark05=5904

apocalpse OD 80.40 let me run 425/1225 clocks for a 3dmark05=6050, but these drivers are buggy in games

gonna try 77.30 out in 3dmark05, as I've heard good things

    80.40 just scored 6021

I guess a question would be:
For card 'X' what is the fastest driver in 3dmark 03 & 05 regardless of image quality and stability?

...i've had no problems whatsoever with these, though they don't appear to work for everyone.

    On my old 4280 (Ti4200 8x 128MB) - 44.03 or 45.23

    3DMark 2001 = 10700

On my 6800GT - Still testing.

    77.72 seem ok.

    3DMark 2001 = 14938
    3DMark 2003 = 10168
    3DMark 2005 = 4803

    ** Card not overclocked...yet! :D **

77.77 whql has been the fastest for me ... but my personal favourite is the 71.81 and the 76.44 .... those two were the best except in BF2 ....

76.44 one of my favorite I used a long time
77.13 beta, as fast as 76.44 but better IQ. Did have a litte stuttering with these though

Now using 77.77 whql, not very fast drivers but good IQ and smooooth gameplay. keepers for now
