So ddr3 is not similar to ddr and ddr2? I understood they all worked the same? I'm curious what Deltatux thinks on this, he is also one for lower latency.

Like I said there is a noticeable difference between cas4 and cas 6 with my ddr2. Is there any proof that with ddr3 cas latency does not play a big part in performance?

Surely you can manage 5.4 GHz on the CPU... :p and maybe up the PCIe speed a little, that'd give you even more bandwidth.

Cant get eyefinity lads... pcs in the ...cough...livingroom... my wife actually places.games in 3d on it so there was only space for a medium sized (46")3d screen

I wish my gf played games... she has no patience and throws the controller in a fit of rage the second she can't figure something out lol I saw the pics of ur rig its crazy ignore my past comment about the synthetic benchmarks they are useless but we are all geeks here so it does matter I guess

roflmao, an i7 2600k @5.3ghz hold the cards back? What will they think of next?

Its not holding the cards back, its holding the results of a synthetic benchmark back.

If you increase the GPU speed you get a higher result.
If you increase the CPU speed you get a higher result.

    Nice results op !!

Crazy setup. Considering 6990 costs around 500$ here, it's like 1k$ for video card. Still cheaper than Nvidia though, and ... faster : )

Good luck getting on 1st place! Hopefully AMD will present you Bulldozer!

    Guru3D is proud of you!

p.s. Not sure of possible, but would be really cool if AMD could actually sponsor you on this. If you pwn Nvidia and Intel at the same time with bench score, AMD will  forever you. (I mean love).

thanks a lot for all the posts lads;) if it goes for the cpu limiting factor then even in games you can see it;) witcher 2 with max all including ubersampling needs 5.3ghz to maintain 60fps..... if i turn the vsync of at 5.3 I get around 58-62fps, with 5.4 It jumps to 65-68, thats a big jump for just 100mhz, same for benches like 3dmark vantage and 2011, not talking even about 03/05/06 in which I cant get a better score, because my previous results where at 5.5gz and every 100mhz gives me a few thousand points in those ones and both gpu and cpu scores go up, so its not like its just the cpu tjat gives better score at higher clocks

I think the big jump is due to % of available CPU.
If say 70% (arbitrary number) of the CPU is required for the game, this leaves you with 30% ish to drive the video cards.
If you increase overall CPU performance by say 5%, this isnt needed to run the game so can be mostly utilised to drive the gfx cards.
Add 5% to 30% (yeah I know it adds up to 105% total, but it is representative), thats somewhere near a 16% increase in CPU available for driving the gfx cards "for this example".

If your cards werent maxed out, they can use the extra CPU power.

at the end I know one thing: if i get a faster cpu ill get higher scores not only the cpu but the gpus as well, hence the gpus have still more in them ;)

Only if the cards werent already maxed out.
    Check with MSI Afterburner.

hmmm at the same clocks for the gpu and a higher cpu speed i get the gpus scores to go up as well, lets say ill get 60k at 5.3ghz on the cpu and 960/1500, if I up it to 5366mhz I get nearly 61k on the gpus

    Thats almost linear.
It almost smells like something funny is going on here (not of your doing btw :)) unless some of the tests dont max the GPUs out.
I would expect a benchmark to max out what is being tested though, hence why its odd.

Can you check with MSI Afterburner to see if the GPUs do get maxed out at lower CPU clocks?
