Far Cry 5 Breaks Franchise Sales Records

I must just be completely out of touch with reality because I just can't understand how.

 

Gamers really are their own worst enemy.

Lapping up the same old, rinse & repeat franchise crap, year in, year out.

They're the same morons who think all these garbage Marvel movies are high concept art.

 

I guess I'm a dinosaur too... I have never played a single Far Cry game to this day.

 

HH , no one said it's nota a good game of a Nice game. Just repetitive and it's the same model as FC4 or primal or FC3 pe just cause . Can I recomand you : The Talos Principle now that Was a good game. I am just saying we don't need the same game every year. Just like Bethesta is doing with Skyrim ... It Was good , but now they are just milking it

 

Probably because:

1. It's a good game
2. effective protection system

I'm sure the mystique, hype and fascination carried over from the first Far Cry from 2004 is still a big factor in boosting sales.

 

I guess I'm a dinosaur too. I find most of Ubisoft games extremely boring these days.
I saw like 20 minutes of gameplay of FarCry 5 and it is the same repetitive $hit like in The Division, Assassins Creed, Ghost Widelands.

The Division was also the best selling game for Ubisoft and later was bashed by community for lack of content and endgame.I myself grabbed a copy of The Division GOTY as well - waste of money.

My favorite games are GTA4 Complete edition and GTA 5, and to be honest after playing GTA 5 I think my standard expectations for AAA games have skyrocket.

One simply appreciates quality when he sees it.

 

Well for me it was pretty simple... i wanted an entirely new game, preferably a shooter, and with nice graphics... what else is there right now ? All the big ones usually come in the fall. I reckon that's why it has sold so much.

 

I am sorry if you dont have anyone to play this with but there are very few fps co-op games where you can play through the whole story and this is a really fun experience in co-op.

 

wow some people are salty lol. I don't buy every franchise game on each release, ill typically skip one or two. they have done a good job marketing this game as well. looks fun to me, ill probably pick it up as well.

 

I own far cry 2 and couldn't even finish playing through it it was so boring and repetitive that I've had no interest in anything in this franchise after it.

 

100% agree with The Talos Principle as a excellent puzzle game of all time , as for far cry 5 , i will play it when i finish with Assassins Creed Origins , i still have both DLCs to play yet , i just don't have enough time these days

 

Sterling said it best, it's alright. And maybe it's best Ubisoft game yet, but because its the same milked openworld formula, like every other Ubisoft game in this decade, its ok. If this would come ten years ago it would be a masterpiece, but now its just another Ubisoft openworld game.
But at least this one is good optimised, and relative bug free, so hurray for progress.

 

Check out this vid. Far Cry 2 has way more advanced AI and dynamic gameplay/physics than Far Cry 5. Keep in mind that this game is 10 years old. Games technical innovation is degressing.



EDIT: I'm not trying to convince people that Far Cry 2 is a better game than Far Cry 5.
In fact Far Cry 2 is the worst Far Cry game in the series from a gameplay perspective IMO.

But from a technical standpoint, we all have to admit that FC5 is a devolution instead of evolution
Sure we don't buy games to shoot of branches and stuff. But this type of attention to detail helps to increase the immersion. When a merc is hiding behind some bushes while you start to mow down the entire vegetation completly with your heavy machine gun or grenade is a more fun experience when the leafs and braches are reacting to your shots. And that is just one of the many technical effects they had in a previous version of the current dunia engine. I don't understand why they ditch them completly instead of perfecting them.

 

Nice to see the same idiots coming out with the same crap once again. Hate to tell you this but with a very few (and I mean few) games every game is a copy of some other game which in turn is a copy of some other game. Personally I tend to play games either for the story or just for fun. If I want story I'll play stuff like Uncharted or The Witcher. If I want fun I'll play something like a far Cry game of Elder Scrolls because I know what I'm getting and don't have to invest.

 

Far Cry 2 was a horrible un-fun game. A bullet list of features does not mean a game is good.

Far Cry 3 was a huge step forward, and 4 had some nice refinements to the system. Sounds like they further refined it with 5. I am very excited to play it when I get time.

 

FC1 was a new era for all game developers, way ahead of its time , fantastic when it came out

same as, not a UBI fan, but the games themselves are brilliant, well FC1 and FC3, were my favorites! ' Did you hear that? Gonna shoot you in the face.' ha!
