I have no problem with it as long as it actually works, from what i have been seeing here in the UK it is very hit and miss on its results, so it still has some way to go before we have Minority report style stuff, but if and when it ever works correctly then i personally have no issues.

Completely awesome tech in use by a very trustworthy group that would never mislead or lie to us.

Had an issue with it at my recent trip, the facial recognition equipment failed to identify me, and I was pulled out from the line and talked with an agent who took his time...little did he knew that I well aware of those techniques, I also work in a government agency.
Put myself in a deep calm Zen state, waited for a long while, then I was asked nicely to go on my merry way and enjoy my trip.
But my Stallman side inside was outraged...and still is.

I can see all of the benefits for law enforcement (and border patrols), but it's going to be abused and used as a political tool to scare people into silence.

It's already happening in parts of China and by the look of things the plan is to roll it out into their whole country (or beta test the system; as it were) and eventually globally?

The video I linked was on the topic of social credit system, but I think the whole facial recognition thing will be tied into such a system from which there's no hiding.

I personally don't want to have anything to do with it, but once in place, you can't opt-out and even if they say so, they'll just keep your face on file.

Well, it can be used for actual good like finding missing people, but I think it will more widely be used commercially to target us even more with personalized ads.
I expect it also to be used with head signature cameras, which makes essentially hiding impossible, this of course leads thoughts to some sort of Orwellian nightmare. North Korea is bad as it is, imagine if they used this..

I don't want big tech interfering with my daily business. It's bad enough that youtube is censoring some of my favorite channels. Thankfully I live in a rural area away from this madness.

Yes, this is political and goes beyond that by fringing ideological discussions almost by proxy.

Just wait until they want to put the RFID chip (mark of the beast) in people, and disable cash as a form of currency. Then, people will finally wake up, but it will be too late.

Like so many techs, it is a bit of a double-edged sword. I can't say i am a fan of it, but it is not much of an issue out in the middle of nowhere that i call home. I am big on privacy and minding one's own business. I guess i will need another jammer...

I used to work in a local casino, and after 9-11 the department of Homeland security was using it. The casino is right on the American Canadian border, but is a Native American casino, long story short they have been using it sense they opened in 2004. Shortly after opening, a person entered the casino and tried to claim a jackpot that was never spun off be the previous winner. After they found that out, they were walking him out of the casino and the facial software did its trick(we have off duty detectives on site)they work in gaming. They arrested him, as he was wanted in connection with the Lackawanna 7 better know as one of the people wanted for 9-11. Seems to work fine here in the sates.

I think it is a great idea as long as it works, if you have done nothing wrong it will never effect you, but hopefully criminals and others that intend harm will find there life harder

^^^That is the problem right there at present, it is not 100% accurate, hence why it is of no use to anyone and all it does is interfere with law abiding citizens going about these everyday lives, it was tested here in the UK recently and that is all it did, so it is still some way off from joining or replacing CCTV as is.

    I don't support it tbh.

First tech's not there yet (I've read that "white" males are matched correctly >90% when "coloured" females rank at 60% precision), and second I don't see any sense in supervising the general public to maybe, maybe catch a single person or a small group. It has to be super expensive as well, just thinking about electricity costs.

And we have already seen what it's used for in China, and it's pretty clear that while not as blatantly and "in your face" (pun intended) as there, it's used for profiling of every person. Which creates a personal file that's the same as any cirminals, just maybe not flagged yet. And we all know, power will be abused at some point, and this is a lot of power.

I want you to send me all of your emails, and any social media logins and passwords* - if you have done nothing wrong...then you should not have anything to worry about, right? RIGHT?

*I also have the right to hold all of this information for the rest of time

No thanks. I hate the concept of trading our freedom/privacy for security.
