Eyefinity + Crossfire supported games??

    Hi guys,

I am just a new member on this forum and this is my first thread in the internet ever! So I would be happy to receive some useful replies :)

    I have 3 24'' displays on my desk and running a 5970 + 5870 + Core i7 in my rig!

Eyefinity is running just beautiful in a lot of games. -> :) UPDATE: I have made some screenshots in my posts below! :)

    Running 5970 in slot 1
    I get around 160FPS in HAWX at 5760 x 1080
COD MW2 is running at around 65FPS same res and is looking just amazing!

I have tested a lot in the past weeks, tuning here and there.

Still the same with the new 9.12 hotfix:
Enable Crossfire under Eyefinity makes the games stutter, crash or run much more slowly.
Disable Crossfire brings a much better performance in all games I have!

Found that the 5870 at Slot 1 is much better in games, which use only single core like Risen (around 33FPS). Because the single core on the 5970 is running slower and Risen does not use the 5970 internal dual-core support, with the 5970 it is just around 25FPS.

Gladly most modern games make use of the 5970 dual core support, I keep that card on Slot 1.

Now I am wondering, which games really support Eyefinity + Crossfire now!!
I could not find one game, which can do it in the moment and don't want to switch the cards in the slots for that game (example Risen with 5870) and back for another game (example COD MW2 with 5970)

Huge FPS improvements on some games with the new 9.12 hotfix (Dragon Age Origins for example jumped with the new game patch over 100FPS!! in High Res Eyefinity) but seems not to support both cards in Eyefinity.

I am now searching all forums in the net about news on this issue, some people wanted to test it like Bodar in his great Trifire thread, but since now it seems that no one has tested successfully Eyfinity in Crossfire until now.

Any idea, which game can make it worth now, that I bought the only cards availlable here in Germany for the past weeks to make Trifire Criossfire work?

Would be happy to get some good news from you guys!

Merry X-Mas to you all! :)

    PS:
If you have an Eyefinity setup on your desk, here is a small X-Mas gift for you: Check out the great demos from Farbrausch like MASAGIN , FR-minus-012 or FR-041_debris.

But attention: You should not have an epileptic risk when watching those demos under Eyefinity!!!
    (my settings: 5760 x1080, 16:9, no VSync)
Your heart may beat a little faster!!

The only game I can think of which "supports" eyefinity or multi monitor is ARMA. You have your main view on the monitor in front of you, and you can have 2 extra monitors either side so you can see over your left/right shoulder by turning your head instead of moving your mouse/avatar.

Anything else would basically just be "super widescreen", custom resolutions etc.

here is a Benchmark of Unigine Heaven using 5970 @ 820/1100
    DX11 Tesselation at 5760x1080

    Remark on this test:
30 PFS does not mean smooth! Here I find the microstuttering effect very obvious! :nerd:

Just a note: I have clicked in the ATI settings to show, when Crossfire is enabled.
It now shows up, when it is enabled and also when it is disabled!!!

Strange! Maybe because of the 5970 in Slot 1 supporting 2 cores even without Crossfire to the 5870 beside??

Hi there welcome to the forum.I would love to see your screenshots but they are not working.

Note - Crossfire X support at this time is at the early stages of implementation. We will be further validating and testing it and providing performance improvements in coming drver releases.

The ATI Catalyst™ 9.12 hotfix release provides ATI CrossFireX™ support on Eyefinity configurations, allowing users to take advantage of their additional GPUs for increased gaming performance when driving high resolution Eyefinity display groups

Do not expect to max out games running at super high resolutions, some games can not even run at lower resolutions with AA.

Also you could head over to WideScreenGamingForum
    http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

Also there a partial list of games that should work with the eyefinity, and any game in theory that supports wide screen gaming should work.

    Hi Gerard,

thanks a lot for your feedback!

Happy that you showed me the whitelist. I saw it once and then couldn't find it again.

I do also know the widescreengamingforum and found a lot useful information up there. For example to make Lara Croft an ass, which does not strech over two screens! Haha!

But until now the only thing, which has changed since the 9.12 hotfix is, that I can watch the beutiful Crossfire logo when playing on three screens.
But this logo does surely not make sure, that crossfire is really working.

I could not find one game until now, which USES the crossfire in Eyefinity.

All my games run faster, when the Crossfire is disabled.
Some games like to stutter or crash when Crossfire is enabled.

I am glad I am not running 3 screens and never will,I would be so dissapointed with the poor implantation and driver support for crossfire and Eyefinity

I have had for the past years a setup with a Nvidia 7950x2 and Athlon 4600.
First I thought: Ultrafast machine!!! Then I added a 22'' monitor and it was amazing at that time.

Thought maybe add a Triple Head 2Go would be a good update, but this thing only supported 1280x1024x3 for the past years.

Now with the comeout of Eyefinity the fever got me!! :)

First a new Mainboard, new CoreI7 and a 6gig of Ram. Then searched for the 5870. Not availlable from stock in Germany until now!! I found one dealer who received one card in that month! Jumped in the car and went to that town to get it!

Meanwhile I could hapily get the last active Displayport-Adapter availlable from the Netherlands. Really rare stuff!!

So I finally made my new 3x 24'' screens come to life and was impressed about this huge field of view on my desk!

Games really hard to make em work under Eyefinity. Some need registry-hacks, other need tuned ini-files.

And the main point: Maximum steam coming from the CPU!!

So I started overclocking step by step.

Then I found that my 580W PSU came to it's knees, when I tuned the Core I7, the Ram and the 5870.
    So I installed a 1000W from Corsair.

Then the 5970 was introduced and I saw this video from the ATI release show. At that time I watched everday the great Trifire/Eyefinity thread from Bodar - and knew, that I want this Trifire on Eyefinity also!

But same story again: No cards availlable all over Germany for weeks and weeks. Then found again the one and only availllable 5970 here in Germany.
So jumped again into the car ... still under fever and knowing, that I spend already far too much money on my new system, when I checked my bank account ;-)

But finally I made all those stuff work!! And when you sit in front of it and play Grid at 100FPS or Hawx at 130FPS all in maxed resolution - it is just mindblowing!!! :nerd: You are in the game and not in front of it.
That makes really a big difference!

And for me worth to go all that long way! I am very happy with my system now! Just a little crossfire under eyefinity finetuning would be fine!

    Regards, Martin
