    hey guys.
    My Laptop: Sony VAIO FW590GJB
    VGA: ATI 4650 Mobility Radeon.

Just Bought a month ago. OS is win7 64bit Pro.
It was good at first, then "driver stopped risponding and recovered" happened. I didn't care, after 2 or 3 weeks, BSOD came one after another JUST ON Welcome screen. sometimes it goes into desktop but when I open a program or do something, suddenly screen crashes, mixes colors and black screen and BSOD... I installed catalyst 10.2 and 10.3 (modded also for sony laptops). I have to go to safe mode and remove the driver with driver sweeper. then win comes up with standard vga mode. help on this, what driver version should I install? is it a hardware or software issue? heard that 9.7 WHQL works... or ATI Stream SDK? what should I do...? help please.

note: system recovery doesn't change anything. it happens with default sony driver too.

It it is doing this after a complete system recovery then it is nothing you have done. It will be a hardware issue. Possibly VGA overheating or bad memory. Check with SONY to see if it a known issue with your laptop. Maybe they have issued a fix or BIOS update. If not, it will still under guarantee, send it back.
