Well, it's a brand new card to a brand new series so of course the price of the card is going to be expensive but I'm sure it will drop down after a few months. I am never one to buy the XX80 series card and often opts for the middle of the ground XX70 series so I will wait till next spring for the 2070 to go on sales down to maybe $400ish then I'll pick one up to replace my current 1070.

Yup and no one is forcing you to buy one so I don't see what the problem is.

Why do we keep getting these walls of text from people who think the cards are garbage and overpriced?

I think thou dost protest too much :p

I got a 2080ti and thankfully mines working fine. The only issue I did have was where my display signal started cutting out. I blew in the HDMI cable connector and I haven't had an issue since.

Also I'm not defending my purchase but it's complete BS for someone to say these cards are bad, you want a bad card, go and try a 5800 fx ultra, now that was a bad release, I should know as I had one.

Regarding the issues, someone posted over on the GeForce forums that a lot of issues are caused by compatability issues with motherboards, Asus will be rolling out updates soon apparently. This is normal as it would be near on impossible to test every type of config in a test lab.

I would also bet that many issues are psu and windows related as someone already mentioned.

I'd also recommend anyone playing Path of Excile to disable msaa, on my system trying to play any game after closing poe will give me a black screen. Disabling msaa, all games launch fine afterwards.

Be happy that people can write down WoT with which you or anyone else can disagree. Opening doors to opposite is road to damnation.
Calling it Garbage or in similar way is subjective approach. Take it as that. But he has some objective points there too.

Maybe it´s because we are on an enthusiast hardware forum??? Were people are supposed to give their opinions, you know, about hardware and related stuff...

No, my literacy is excellent, not so sure about your memory though ;)

And I'm what's wrong with the industry am I?

Another poor hard done by 1080 Ti owner bleating about expensive enthusiast hardware like it's the first time video cards have ever been expensive (and yes they are overpriced, I've said that many times) but if you want the fastest video card, you pay them the money or you go without.

Oh and yeah, I did pre-order a 9900K JFYI, I like new tech, what can I say :p

"Why do we keep getting these walls of text from people who think the cards are garbage and overpriced?"

Nvidia's reveal centred almost exclusively on RTX capabilities, none of which can be seen in purchased software currently. The primary selling point was RT functionality and we now know that you'll need the top end 2080Ti just to get minimally acceptable frame rates and at a maximum of 1080p. There is a very high risk that games making use of RT as a selling point will have that feature highly underused just to reach acceptable fps (it would be very useful if RT usage was reflected within every game review). We also know that fps uplift is nothing out of the ordinary for a new release. Etc, etc, etc. At prices of 1300 euro and well above, that's a hell of a lot to to ask your enthusiast segment to swallow...many of which might have been tempted to upgrade and could afford this card but for reasons of sanity, refuse to do so (outrageous cost of card and very suspect RTX delivery) Thus, it's not unreasonable that 'walls of text' of protest can be so readily seen here.

I'm not saying (and would never say) you can't protest.

I'm just pointing out that no amount of complaining is going to change anything where the prices of those cards are concerned.

Thankfully, I couldn't give a fig about the RT features of the cards and it wasn't even a consideration when I bought them.

I hope they go somewhere with it but only time will tell.

The whole launch was badly handled, but it's hardly the first time that has happened and it probably won't be the last.

It is hardware issue. Artifacts don't appear because of driver/windows issues. At least as a word of warning I would write an article about this. Given this is a very expensive piece of hardware I think it is a must to have an article. But I see nobody cares, not Guru3D, not techpowerup. Everyone is recommending these stupidly expensive cards like they would be faultless and sold for peanuts....

The design is actually quite nice imho, pictures don't do them justice and I'll take EVGA over a fu*king FE anytime given the ridiculously high failure rate they have at the moment.

At the end of the day, I don't much care how they look, I do care that they work :)

I do welcome Nvidia for getting RT into the mainstream, and there's no doubt whatsoever that once the tech is able to deliver with minimal/no developer compromise we'll all be behind it.

Unfortunately, with what we now know, Nvidia would appear to have more than dropped the ball on this - both (and particularly) on pricing, and in the way they've tried to disguise the shift in model number between generations. I'd certainly say this has a very high risk of being viewed as somewhat disrespectful/arrogant to the potential purchaser, particularly the enthusiast community who will recognise that only a card at the level of 2080Ti would be in scope to realise the GTX to RTX change/promise, particularly the RT headline act. Yes of course, no one is forcing us to make a purchase, but unfortunately for Nvidia, it's almost certain they've missed at least one round of consumer upgrades. AMD also know this and would no doubt be hoping they were in a better position to capitalise...maybe next year?

You know before people start saying it's an outrage how much they priced this card(And I'm not disagreeing with this, prices for RTX series cards are a little on the high side), this is not the first time we've seen high priced enthusiast GPU's. The 295x2 and the GTX 690.

Before anyone says these were high priced because they're 2 cards, this is not relevant. These cards are sold as a single unit, high end enthusiast cards.

That being said, no one can deny the power so far Turing has, and with proper driver optimization and aging it will be better. Most likely Pascal has reached it's end point for optimizations.

DX10? DX12? How long did we have to wait until we saw games that supported either of those? I mean sure there were benchmarks but I don't buy my cards to only run benchmarks.

Yes you can and I hope that you do if you feel strongly about it.

I love the cards personally, highest temps I've seen while gaming are around 71C and I think it sits around 1950 but I don't OC so it's right where it should be :)

Hot damn...999 USD!? At that price I'll buy three; 2 for SLI and a 3rd to hang from my rear-view mirror. The ladies'll be throwing themselves at my car when they see me driving by with the windows down and those GPU fans spinning backwards.

These are the fastest cards right now period , that we all agree. If you have one or two of them please enjoy it :) . I think they won't come down in price anytime soon :( it's sold out absolutely everywhere in the USA with no eta even on eVGA website, except newegg that have only one 2080Ti for sale with a huggeeee ... ( add infinitum ) price gouging marked up price  dirty play :p . I wonder if nvidia just made 500~600 units of 2080Ti video cards and that was it :D ,low volume or paper launch , same as Intel 9900K nowhere to be found, oh dear ...

You can buy one at a low price of $1,500US Dollars + Taxes + Shipping = $2,000US more or less depending on where you live on the USA

said it best "No Competition " from AMD

That said , the 1080ti is competition for 2080
at the present time , 1080ti got my $ for what it can do now , not promises or opinion not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.

Angrily raises hands and mumbles bad words towards novidia, instead of realizing novidia trying to sell leftovers GTX1000 series and supply of RTX GPUS are low, which causing high demand, therefore high prices. And totally ignores the fact that EVGA provides highest quality video cards on the market, therefore higher price.

... Keeps being angry at Novidia, cause it's cool thing to do nowadays and act as if forced to buy it.

'This might actually be a bit of a marketing gimmick, as EVGA is listing a price that is 200 bucks cheaper than NVIDIA indicates. Little is known about availability as well."

I don't know if its a marketing gimmick, nvidia had announced msrp at $999, not $1200. Maybe the actual $999 priced cards are about to be released?
