European Pricing for AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D: Early Listings and Estimated Cost

lol these prices are completely off... People can buy 13600KF for 320 euro. That 3D cache is not worth 60-80% more money.

 

that's a great cpu too but it depends on how much gaming you do and whether it's the primary use of the pc.
one could argue that the fps increase is worth it for the 7800X3D on the "Nvidia scale" of value
but i won't as that i-5 plays extremely well w/ everything

 

if the manufacturing cost of 3D cache wasn't so high this is where a 7600X3D would shine at 350 euros and would be everyone's 1st go-to. but it's still too expensive for this range even though there is no technical reason they couldn't

 

Americans are so lucky. $449 (£370.58) vs €530 (£464.24) If these are the real prices thats nearly a £100 more.

 

High end parts always carry a premium on them, so you can`t compare a mainstream part like the 13600kf with an high end one like the 7800x3d.


And i`m the first to admit that the 13600kf is probably the best CPU available for gaming in terms of price/performance ratio.

You seem to forget that 449$ is without tax. Im pretty sure there are some states where you dont have to pay taxes when ordering online but there are ones where you have to. Not to mention that in EU we get 2 year warranty vs mostly 1 year in US.

Since when is an 8core CPU a high-end part? Performance in gaming is very similar, especially if you fine-tune the 13600KF (which is very limited on 7800X3D - no "normal" OC). Both CPUs are fighting for the same enthusiast PC gaming sector. And honestly, I think that these prices just killed this CPU, mostly thanks to Intel's competitive pricing.

 

Well while this is true (warranties etc.), a lot of manufacturers do give out extended warranties anyway (if you register your product).
Also, I'd like a lower entry point at the cost of a second year of warranty tbh. But that's just me.


What's really killing the 7800X3D compared to the 5800X3D's release is the cost of the platform, not the CPU.
But hey, I hope the mainboard manufacturers enjoy their lower sales, because they'll be blaming it on "higher powers" and the customer anyway.

 

100%, i was looking at getting a 7600x but then looked at the MOBO prices and they are not cheap. Looking at £420 - £450 for a 7600x and a half decent Mobo.
Just prices up a AM4 and AM5 rig similar Mobo and RAM specs
A 5900x/32gb based system is £100 cheaper than a 7600x based system, for video editing its a no brainer.

 

As I'm currently trying to keep tags on things because I want to upgrade at least the backbone (CPU / MB / RAM) this year, I'm currently reading in on mainboards, in particular, on what I do miss out going AM4 vs AM5 / Intel's chipsets.
But honestly, I am with you on the productivity part, but with gaming too... I don't know, I just believe hardware manufacturers have had a concussion or something because since 2020 they all act like they are mentally challanged, and honestly, they are actively decreasing their own customer base, or at least letting it happen passively.

 

For me 8 core CPUs can be considered high end because of their prices and because cheaper CPUs are more than capable. And with 3d cache, they are defintitly considered high end.


And yes, the 13600KF is an amazing CPU, specially for gaming, but there are people who want even more.

 

ok so i've already done the legwork for you as i've been piecing together a new AM5 system. it wasn't easy as i've had to wait on availability.

1) not much difference for productivity unless you buy the special chipsets "E" and X670 and only there are no real pcie 5.0 drives unless you want to pay more than a mid-range cpu (plus mobo heatsinks aren't guaranteed to handle their heat on Intel/AMD boards)

2) the main reason to go AM5 is the upgrade path

3) the best deals are for B 760 13th gen Intel boards. the exact same model for b650 is usually more than $20 more but no upgrade path

my choice for mobo was the TUF b650m until the Gigabyte Aorus B650M elite AX came out which is actually $40 less ($190) but has both EXPO and XMP timings in the bios both of these have suck-ass audio codecs but i use a dac so no biggie.

for RAM it's dead simple G.Skill came out and had our backs w/ low profile sticks w/o rgb (Flare X5 & RipJaws X5) where you can get 2x16gb @ 6000Hz cl 32-36 under $130

this rig isn't going to be open loop cuz expense - i'm getting a new gpu so all of that will have to wait. going with an aio probably an arctic 280

i was going to get the 7900X3D but the 7800X3d just makes too much sense and again the difference is going to gpu

That sentence makes literally zero sense. HighEnd is not defined by you subjective feeling of what is expensive or what you consider "fast enough".

The 7700 at £325 is a better buy overall but they targeting the enthusiasts/benchmarkers with the X3D cpus

The AM5 boards are really expensive though

 

4790K still rocking hard even on 4K OLED!

 

5800X3D costs 340 EUR. Its crazy value. I got mine for 320E but it went up a bit last month.
