I am biting my tongue pretty hard at this point. Learned a few things this summer about geopolitics and some made my skin crawl and my head spin. For the sake of everything G3D stands for, everyone's time and desire to have a nice chat, I will simply read and shut up. Although...
While the GBP and Euro have dropped significantly, this is great news for exports from those countries. A fried of mine owns an engineering company that exports to the US, he will be rejoicing in the strong USD Vs the weak GBP. For those complaining about high interest rates, certainly in the UK, they are still incredibly low compared to those seen 1979 -1990 when we peaked at 17% with 10 -15% common during that time. Great for savers who have been shafted for the last decade. Its also a good time to invest in undervalued stock, certainly those with hefty dividend.
The UK is in a non-official recession at the moment, probably until 2023. Once we start doing things our own way, it should improve.
Agreed but its a bit of a fake recession as we are on a role from Brexit, Covid and Ukraine. Also its a global issue with many other large economies also seeing the same problems. China is also teatering on the brink due to harsh Covid restrictions and a cool down in the global economy.
Countries have a responsibility to limit carbon and fossil fuels to protect the planet from warming any further.
Coworker told me his energy bill (electricity + household gas) went from 150 euro to 780 euro per month. Meanwhile I pay 48 bucks because I refuse to put on the heater for any temps above 17c.
This is why I wish there was a dislike button. No, they don't. We (most of us) live in the real world, pretending that we're all in it together is a lie. Every country has a responsibility to it's citizens and that's where it stops.
I got a fixed rate, and, plenty of emails from my power company asking for me to 'try our new tariffs'. No thanks...hahahaha.
oh, so the euro is .96 of a dollar?...I doubt that will be much more than .90 by the spring. Callin' it.
Many people will die this winter cause they cant afford to pay there bills, I saw Rustle Brand say that many will boycott the Heating bills soon in an act of solidarity(in the UK). The same will soon happen in the states.
