I know that the specifications say that the motherboard is only compatible but i read other articles saying that ddr3 ram is compatible with the EP45-UD3P Gigabyte board, is this true. I accidently bought DDR3 ram for a new build of my brothers computer and didn't check to see if the motherboard is compatible, so is it or should i return and get ddr2 ram.

The EP45-UD3P only supports DD2. You needed the EP45C-UD3P for ddr2/3 support
