    Ok.. before i had a Gigabyte 965P-DS3 and i was running my E6400 @ 3.2GHz 1.325 V stock everything else...

now i have a EVGA 680i SE which is suppose to be what the title says..

am i doing something wrong.. i cannot find a stable v combination for 3.2GHz... i think i might have 3.0GHz down.. still testing.. i can get into windows @ 3.6GHz 1.5V but 3DMark 06 wont run...

could someone give me some hints on how to get this board stable.. :knock:

Check your temps in the bios and later in Windows under load (run 2 instances of Prime95 to fully utilise the core). Maybe you haven't seated the cooler correctly?
Also, check which bios version you have, you may need to upgrade to a more stable version.
In Windows, look at your cpu voltage during load, maybe it drops too low to be stable (my cpu voltage drops by .04v under load), so you'd need to adjust it upwards.
What are your settings for the North/Southbridge, what FSB speeds are you running for 3 and 3.2 GHz? Also, have you made sure you dropped the ram-divider to take it out of the equation?

^ I don't think you can straight up bash the chipset just cuz one of your friends has a problem with it.
I can clock my board anywhere I want, and its solid as a rock.
680i chipset is totally awesome.. anyone could get unlucky and get a bad board.. you're acting as if everyone who buys ones gets it RMA'd

The only thing I can say is a lot of people that buy their boards from Newegg have troubles with them, not everyone, though but myself included. I had similar troubles with my Asus P5N-E.

The MSI P6N Platinum is a good board and the GigaByte GA-N650SLI-DS4 might be a good one.

If you don't mind spending the bucks, I'd suggest these:

    MSI P6N DIAMOND
    GIGABYTE GA-N680SLI-DQ6

EDIT - Oh, wait, you aren't looking for SLI capability, are you? I suppose I assumed you were by the model number of the EVGA board, for some reason SLI popped in my head. However, if you want a very fine OC'er non-SLI get one of these:

    GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L
    GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R
    GIGABYTE GA-P35C-DS3R
    GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS4
    GIGABYTE GA-P35-DQ6

People have been reporting very good and stable OC'ing with these P35 GigaBytes.

That's an excellent board, loaded with features found on the DQ6 but I think it has been replaced with the DS4

and once again the overclock by software is bad has been proven. if you were overclocking by bios alone and just happened to have ntune installed this further proves that the Bios is the only way to go to get solid true overclocks with proven stability.

Glad to hear that your back on track though. Let us know how far you can take it now.
