Well let's see, the Asus 7800GT dual is about just as fast as 2 7800GTX in SLI, only 3 fps lower in most cases.

But you can't run 7800GT dual in SLI Which is not a good thing, if you like the idea that you can add a secend card later on.

So if the 7800GT dual is gonna cost €999 bucks, I'll take the 7800GTX 512MB and add a secend card later on. :)

You can run 2x EN7800GT in SLI mode

what we don't know is if it actually works in sli.

we just know you can put two of them on one motherboard...
and it will be detected as 4 separate video cards.

unless the drivers do something fancy, you will probably just be able to choose any 2 GPU's to be one SLI, and the other 2 to be the other SLI. and you'd essentially have 2 SLI displays on your machine.

nvidia hasn't announced any more-than-2-gpu SLI support.
and if it isn't in the drivers, it's not happening.

    Interresting didn't know that.

But why did they have to remove the heatsink cover, if the card was ment to work in SLI?

I myself always give preference to single core solutions. However, it is a personal opinion.

No you cant, not yet, thats a bit misleading. That was Asus testing it in theory, and it hasnt been brought to market, so atm, no u cant run two together.

As to which is better, its a tough one. The 7800GT Dual will be a nice collectors card as there are only 2000 of them, and i bet they are faster than a single 512mb GTX, however, the memory is still only 256mb effective cos of the way sLI works, and right now u cant SLI them (and the chances of their being any of the 2000 left to SLI by the time they take it to market IF they take it to market is very limited).

I dunno, i would probably go for the 512mb GTX, at least u could SLI that in the future if u had the cash, and 2 of those would be even faster.

i browsed microsoft website recently and found out that WINDOWS VISTA is coming this 2006. Is it worthy to buy a very expensive card, without any assurance that it would work on the next gen of DIRECTX? maybe "WINDOWS VISTA DIRECTX 10?"
