Before yesterday's update I was getting crashes constantly. I could never finish one battle on the Prussia campaign. After playing yesterday, I only received one crash after all the time playing (after I lost sound while playing, so it probably had something to do with that).

The update seemed to fix all my crashing problems. Was a good update for me as far as stability goes.

I'm running crossfire and it doesn't seem to be having a problem.

its wierd some people report good things about the latest update, other report that it makes the game so unstable it is unplayable.

my dsl modem took a dive dive and finally they came to take a look at it and got a new one. so i never got to dl the patch. but on the official forums there are links to dl the old patch.pak to rollback the latest update, conversely can just copy your patch.pak before it updates if you have not dld the newest patch yet and keep a copy of it if it does in fact make the game worse, or goto ca total war forums and there is a thread on the support forum with download links to the old patch. also is a fix for the sound issues if you have those on the support forums.

22 hours of gameplay and no crashes here either, but it would seem that the majority of posts on this forum concerning CTDT are by NV users.

Problem is that the gamers use old savegames that is most likely already corrupted. After this patch players should start a new campaign and see if the problems are gone.

Every patch for this game has actually made the game worse for me. I was able to play without any crashes or anything, then they released the first patch and I started getting the white screen crashes during loading. Now with the newest patch my game glitches out before I can even load into a game, the screen just flashes a bunch of times then everything turns to black.

The game lags for me at random after the last few patches no matter what the graphical settings.

On a lighter note press G repeatedly on the campaign map for KITTIES!

Nice easter egg but wish they had focused on the bugs :(

I would think its mostly down to your CPU. Strategy games are usually quite CPU intensive, and Total war is extremely intensive on the CPU, especially when you have 1000's of soldiers in a battle - theres alot of AI calculations to do. You GPU isnt exactly top of the line either, although my guess is the CPU is the main cause of the issue.

I'd have to agree with you there, a P4HT would probably lag like crazy. I get a bit here and there @16x10 max but for the most part it runs pretty smooth.

i remember trying to play supreme commander on a pentium 4d and it would play but there was alot of frame chop and fps drops, then i got a c2d world of difference.

Tried the 182.50 drivers today...works great! No CTD or hard lockups. Most settings on Ultra some on High running @ 1680x1050.

On a side note how are everyone's loading times? Mine were pretty bad at 2-3 minutes. Used Power Defrag and deleted my config file and managed to reduce them by 50% or more. Now battles load in about 45-60 seconds.

So the 182.5 drivers do not result in a pinwheel of colors and a hard lock up? I had to revert back to 181.22 previously, but have not tried these new drivers.
