I have the first one but haven't played it yet. Gotta put it on my to-do list.

 

The first elex was very rough around the edges. Hope they improve it this time.

 

First one had quite a bit of jankiness in combat. It was easily the weakest point, as combat was rather difficult all around until it became trivial more to the end of the game. I hope they will polish it a bit more, so that once you get to the ranged weapons, it doesn't become trivial and at the same time, you don't get mad from using melee. Otherwise I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to more.

 

The melee combat looks pretty weak in that video. Hopefully it is much improved by game release.

 

I thought the graphics and combat would be better since the first game was good enough to warrant a second.

 

I can't be the only one that gets annoyed at seeing a character walk right through an npc like a ghost.... it's 2021, why do devs still do this.

 

I dont think it will. They always had a clunky combat system starting from Gothic.

I enjoyed the first ELEX, in spite of the clunk. I've been a fan of the studio and the clunky, yet strangely charming gameplay. I appreciate that they are trying to improve.

 

The animations and combat is what drives me away from their games. This game doesn't seem to be any better from the looks of it.

 

It does differ in some ways. Just look at the video above.

 

Gah I loved everything but Risen 2, I hope this one hooks me.

 

Huh, Risen 2 was the weakest for me (I liked no. 1 the best). I didn't hate it, I just wished there was more variety to the surroundings. That and the final boss was far too easy, but that's true for many PB games..

 

Same here. Risen 1 reminded me of Gothic series and i enjoyed it. Second and third game ware abominations.

 

Eh, the third wasn't that bad. It fixed my biggest gripe with 2, and added in more unique islands. The classes were a lot more varied as well. Admittedly, I played with the Enhanced Edition mod, which tweaked the AI and rebalanced some stuff. the English VA was worse than in 1 and 2, but one can always play in the original German.

EDIT: That, and the game also had a much bigger bestiary. I liked the re-imagined Gothic creatures for the more tropical Risen setting.

 

Third was great. Better than the first which rounded every game into the same thing. same armor at the end, same weapon. Risen 3 is secretly the better game.

People mistake it for 2 when its not.
