Skyrim uses STEAMworks.
Also, there's a difference between a "Games for Windows" title and a "Games for Windows LIVE" title.
Games for Windows doesn't really mean anything. But, Games for Windows LIVE have to be registered to LIVE, and are autoupdated through LIVE.

But, Skyrim (like all other ZeniMax releases) uses STEAMworks. Thankfully.

 

I think I'm going to try to recreate Geralt of Rivia... Race: Nord, basic magic, focus on alchemy and swordsmanship, uses light armor, specializes in hunting monsters for money... The only downside is that witchers don't hunt dragons. So I guess I'll have to avoid doing that

WooHoo, just found out i can get this for £24 using a mates staff discount

Not bringing it down untill Saturday night, but i likely won't get round to this until after Batman AC & AC Revelations anyway, so i can't moan, and i'm not a huge fan anyway after Oblivion.

 

So does this mean that even if I buy it from the shop it will still be a Steam game? If so thats great. I like auto patches!

 

Games for Windows titles have to support widescreen displays properly and, where appropriate (i.e. as in not for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II), support the Xbox 360 controller too. Games for Windows titles are nice, Games for Windows Live ones not so much: I've just lost my career again in Virtua Tennis 4 for example! *sigh*

 

My copy of Skyrim was sent today from ShopTo.net so I should get it tomorrow. Being Steamworks though it means there's zero chance of any of us playing it before 11th November though.

Still, I have a nice shiny new 1 TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 hard drive specifically for Steam now so I shouldn't run out of space any time soon. Got a 1 TB Samsung external drive coming too for backing up the folder and all my other data too.

The huge difference between the 3d meshes is... rather odd. 3d models are really small files, why on earth are those numbers so huge

 

Old news but all Skyrim PC DLC is going to be delayed thanks to....MICROSOFT.
