there's a leveling mod that pretty much replaces items with their "insertcurrentlevelhere" equivalent. Try it. Fixes the have to wait for level part. You still need to level up in order to finish some quests obviously due to OOO.

Well, that at least is confirmed to be out of Skyrim. Todd said that NPCs will continue whatever thing they were doing when you started talking to them. And you can just go and NPCs will stop talking.

Thats a gameplay mechanic that can be modded i suppose. But the floating characters it isnt. No matter how fancy Havok Behaviour they use to design animations, if their blending with the rest of the environment its bad, floating and clipping will be an issue.

Since Skyrim will be settled in a civil war between pro imperial and anti imperial, i suppose that they re going to FO3 style. Law enforcement inside cities but independant from other cities. And the civil war makes this easier (no unified law enforcement in all the province i suppose). Maybe some bounty on your head with occacional bounty hunters ambushing u sometimes? Talon company style?

Id still try to dragon shout the sht out of the guards if they 're psychic. Im a kleptomaniac bastard who happens to have the power of the gods on his voice, so let me be or ill scream until u all get killed!

ack I just read how they're handling leveling.

Apparently the moment you enter a dungeon it will lock itself to your level permanently. I fear this could be bad for my playstyle. I hate bethesda's plots so I rarely finish a game I just run around exploring stuff from day one. I don't want to lock half the game to level 1-10 :(

Guess I'll have to look at mods again.

I guess you wont need a big upgrade, even your current system should run it with ease.
Judging from the shots and videos, of course, since no official statements were made.

and frankly speaking, when a game needs so many mods just to become even the least bit "enjoyable", there's clearly something wrong with the game.

I installed over 100gb+ of mods just to keep myself playing, just to make it feel like I didn't waste money on Oblivion. But when I found myself needing even more mods just to keep my interest going, I decided it had to stop.

Also, seeing as Skyrim will also be released on the PS3 and X360, I sincerely doubt it'll have high requirements. Hopefully, this does not turn out to be Oblivion 2.0 (though it's re-assuring that they've done away with the horrible interaction with NPCs from Oblivion)

and if you read that part you quoted properly, you'd see that I mentioned that it was "re-assuring" to see that they're dealing with it

Heh, why else do people upgrade their gaming machines?
    For the best games!
(ok there are a lot more reasons as well but hey :D)

Granted it doesnt look like you will 'need' a killer machine to play this game, but what are max settings like?
If a top class machine will provide some nice extra graphical glory, I'll upgrade for this game as well.

Sorry. My bad. Now i understand the meaning of re assuring :)

    Of course.

Thats the thing. For PC they only pseudo confirmed high resolution textures. And high for Beth isnt that high. Probably the best max graphics that you will have will be modding some .ini for max draw distance, i reaaaaally hope that they implement SSAO, tone mapping, motion blur, parallax mapping, soft particles or some other effect that makes the image more credible. But current vids and screens only show dynamic shadows at most. Maybe volumetric clouds/fog from the mountains screens.

In any case, stock HDR doesnt cut it anymore. Needz more shiny thingz!

    I knew it :nerd:

I hope they use parallax mapping I love it in stalker! I for one don't know if I will upgrade for this game. My 470's are insane fast so everything else is icing on the cake over that. I probably wait for nvidia cards that have 2gb frame buffer or more before I drop some more cash. I pretty sure I won't have a problem with this game on my q9650 hd 5970 rig either as long as ati drivers don't suck!

From the experience of Oblivion, we knew that almost everything Todd said is hype and that it might not be in the game yet or in a reduced form. I will probably wait a while after its launch and see how it goes.

Oblivion delivered as a game, and Skyrim sound as such a great improvement on all fronts from Oblivion that even half of the things they say will be in game the game will be awesome.
