THe Engine might be outdated, which isn't a big problem. But the game looks NOTHING like Elder Scrolls in terms of Textures and Armor.
They should cancel the game because after actually bothering with checking those screenshots out, I think they are going to kill the amazing ES series once and for all if this abomination is released. They should try to be creative like Arenanet and not copy-paste other companies... smh
Sorry but, if it played just like TES games do normally then you'd just be looking at Darkfall Online with shinier graphics because TES and that play almost exactly the same combat wise. Are you sure you want that? Just a bunch of players swinging at the air while running at each others like idiots? Of course, the downside is this will play just like most other MMORPG now.
true, that what makes mmo meaningless, where in game u have plentiful of useless armor and weapons.. and that outdated engine wont help either.. they should connect older tes games into 1 and make dx11(optional) game and recreate everything in HD. That would have value.. Same quests wouldnt bother at all.
Good news everyone! TESO is using Hero Engine for just experimenting with the ideas. Read the full article here: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/featu...scrolls-online-isn-39-t-using-heroengine.aspx My dead excitement for this game is somewhat resurrected lol
Meh, ive grown tired of MMOs and their supposed "quality" getting blown out of proportion . The only game the last 5 years that has managed to keep my attention and improve uppon its original impression was rift and it's the reason why im still playing it. Anyway, what im saying is untill I actually play the final product ~a month or two after the release (when the quirks have been "patchfixed" out) I cant make any comment. Did the same with AoC, SW, and plan on doing the same with GW (which is according to the media exposure so far is to become gods gift to mmo gaming) and the online version TES
Any mmo that feels like a job(Rift raids) to me is a no go for me. I am thinking GW2 will be different in that field because pretty much all the crazy events are held in the world itself(instead of being instanced) so I can or any other player come and go whenever they feel like it. Don't like "you have to show up at 9PM for raid and stay for 2-6hrs else you are out of the guild" BS. I used to go pretty hard with raiding in WoW(4 years ago), but I don't like that anymore. Kills the whole freedom of gaming whenever you want to. Elder Scrolls is one of my top 10 fav games so will see what kind of features and ideas it will have. Could be all hype like SWTOR lol we will see.
raid rifts in Rift were exactly like that. you could do them anytime. you get a bunch of people together and you go to a rift and you open it and you kill it.
Sorry I mixed the two up. I was referring to the instanced raids in Rift. Open world Rift raids were fun though.
GW most certainly doesnt have PVE content (well nothing beyond basic stuff u can proly find in kitty island adventure even). Melee combat seems (or did the very little i got to try it) pretty bad so far tho, esp for a game that is pretty much just about pvp. But yeah, like i said, things tend to be just pure geek hype pre-release and then its all forum moaning and endless I quit QQ. They got some little time to fix that stuff pre release at least. Anyway, my original point was about TES not GW to get things back a bit ontopic
Unless it introduces new gameplay to the genre I'll pass. I want to play an MMO that is as fresh as UO, EQ, or WoW was. That is to say, not one that is like those games but one that is as different from the current crop as those games were from one another. Till that happens the genre can go die in a corner as far as I'm concerned.
http://www.ag.ru/games/elder-scrolls-online/screenshots/453849 (Some screens, this one looks somewhat familiar, others look pretty different.) (http://www.ag.ru/games/elder-scrolls-online/screenshots/453842 - These argonians for example are almost back to how they looked in TES1: Arena. - http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Arena:Races#Argonian ) And a preview. http://acolytesguild.wordpress.com/2012/10/22/elder-scrolls-online-preview/
No first person is a deal-breaker. I go all the way back to Daggerfall- there were tons and tons and tons of 3rd person RPGs on PC back in the old days. The biggest draw of TES for me was that the gameplay was intended for a first person experience. It was like Heretic or Ultima: Underworld except with a huge giant world to explore at your own pace. Without the seamless 1st person POV, TESO is just another in an endless list of fantasy MMOs.
thnx Jonas; I'd read in an earlier preview that they abandoned 1st person in dev. That said, I'm not sure how well it would work. If it's similar to Morrowind or even Daggerfall, I'd be happy.
There is nothing wrong with the hero engine. People say this only because of SWTOR which looks pretty decent now. On tops of that there have been a lot of hands on with the game in the last week and they all say it look great.
