I'm level 50 something atm. Just made it to Altus Plateau.
Yeah it's not really obvious always what to do but follow the general guidance. Also explore at your will since that's now possible.

I'm hunting for smithing stones a lot, finding the tunnels for them so I can upgrade my weapons quick.
Dual wielding katanas and main is +14 and secondary is +7, both blood infused.

Btw also note that some weapons that have status effects like bleed also have the status effect scale with an attribute. Bleeding weapons that have arcane scaling also scale bleeding with arcane.

This is the first time that passive effects scale too and to me that's a great change.
In prior games they we're fixed to whatever you had in a weapon which prolly largely contributed to status effects not being that useful.

In ER they matter and I love it.

That's awesome. I like games with great endings. It's a sense of satisfaction for me after a grueling session. I'm working on the Bell Bearing so i can purchase the Smithing Stones I need to level my weapons up. I have the cool looking Carian Knight Armor. I'm working on leveling up my Vigor and Intelligence.

Btw I just returned to the south part of the map / south of the starting area and it's great how you can oneshot almost everything now, lols.

Good plan, far as I can tell the bell bearings are also found from tunnels which give you smithing stones in themselves.

Also pay attention to the attribute scaling of weapons and upgrade those attributes to get most bonus damage from weapons.
The letters indicate how strong the scaling is, E being lowest and S being highest (it's like the combo meter in DMC: E, D, C, B, A, S).

So if a weapon has C in both STR and DEX, that means you'll get moderate extra damage from leveling up STR and DEX.

EDIT: a weapon with C scaling in 2 attributes has actually really good scaling, to be clear.

I do have a second Katana. I'll work on leveling it up. Right now my left armament is the Carian Knight Shield. I haven't figured out its strengths yet.

The Atlus level is gorgeous. I love how the artist designed the building architecture.

Gotcha. What class did you pick? I picked the Samurai Class. There are some nice tools and weapons at the Raya Lucaria Academy. Be careful and don't lose your Runes.

    I picked Samurai too.
Just made it to the Rennala bossfight in Lucaria.

I actually was already trying to get to the Capital and defeated Draconian Tree Sentinel but the door wouldn't open, "you need more great runes", lols
So went back to Lucaria as I knew there's a main boss there due to what that guy in roundtable told.

My progression route has been a little unorthodox I guess, I basically rode past Lucaria when I first got there and went further north to Altus Plateau (via the tunnels) and Mt. Gelnir.
Also explored the southmost part more, Castle Morne and other places.

Apart from story progress next I want to find a tunnel that gives you lvl 6 and 7 smithing stones.
Managed to get both katanas to +16 yesterday.

I have to say I found Raya Lucaria Academy a lot easier to deal with than Stormveil Castle.
Sure I'm a little overleveled for the area now but regardless.

Yeah upgrade your weapons, you're going to need it for the final battle. It's a doozy.

Yeh I'm prioritizing weapon upgrades / finding smithing stone tunnels.

I beat Rennala yesterday, honestly that was piss easy and "powered up" Godrick's rune in the Divine Tower so got to explore the Capital a little.
After I reach the objective there I'm going to explore further east / northeast and find more tunnels I think.

But yeah having +16 weapons in an area that drops lvl 2 smithing stones (= max +6 weapon) is pretty satisfying, lols.
Especially if said weapons are both bleed infused and trigger blood loss in 3 hits at best!

EDIT: 8000th post in Guru forums, damn

I have to say though, overleveling aside the start of game pacing is really weird.

Margit and Godrick as first story bosses is like having several kicks in the nuts and then have them removed completely.
They felt like late game Souls bosses and not entirely in a good way.
Especially Margit who can cancel his combos at will and spams so much using melee against him is a major skill and level check.

Godrick I beat fairly quickly but there I didn't even try to play "smart", I summoned the NPC warrior woman (who is a little hot ngl) and used my trusty jellyfish spirit summon and just spammed him to death asap.
Ofc I still had to avoid his AoE attacks and retreat at times but I really didn't bother even trying to learn his entire moveset, unlike with Margit which felt like time wasted.

No point in trying to recognize patterns if the boss can change them at will.
Okay it does add a dynamic component to the fight but success feels more like result of lucky RNG and having strong enough weapons rather than actual skill and observation.

Wow Asiju you are moving along pretty well. I have too many hours on farming, upgrading and exploring. I'm going to start getting through this game and fight some bosses. You say you summoned a NPC Warrior Woman? I want to summon her. I need to stop marveling environments and play the game lol.

Yeah think her name is Loux and you find her in Castle Stormveil pretty close to the boss gate (explore the area), definitely recommend doing that + using a spirit ash of your choice.

I find the jellyfish pretty useful because it draws attention away from you, can tank damage a little so doesn't die fast and as it flies it cannot be damaged by any ground slams + can poison the enemy pretty fast.

Your time spent farming and upgrading will serve you well in Stormveil, you should be able to defeat both Margit (if you haven't yet) and Godrick easily if you are already near level 100, lols.

I defeated Margit around lvl 40 and Godrick at lvl 50 I think.

I defeated Margit. Isn't Godrick all the other powerful bosses Father? I'm about to fire up a session.

    Congrats on number 8000!

No, I think he was the son of the fist Elden Lord and related to Queen Marika.
Anyway it's made clear he's actually the least potent of the shardbearers, probably why you need to "recharge" his rune too.

The grafting had corrupted him long ago apparently.

I made a mistake and discarded the incantation Blessing of the Erdtree. Can I get it back?

Sadly no, discarding items is permanent and according to wiki it is a found item only (can't be learned / bought)

If you have a friend that plays this and doesn't use this incantation, he can invade your world and drop it on the ground and you can pick it up. I did this with a weapon I wasn't using and my son wanted 2 of the same.

Fellas I'm burnt out. Phenomenal game but I need a change of pace. I just got my butt kicked repeatedly before finally beating Radagon. He practically wiped out my whole crew.

    Takin a break.

Yeah this game gets overwhelming at times.

Been making progress, defeated Morgott and Radahn and a bunch of optional bosses.

    Currently in Nokron.
I wanna "clear" rest of the map before going further into the Mountaintops of giants.
