It takes the biggest of the big GPUs to tame Elden Ring at 4K so I laugh when I've read this game is light. 3080 OC can't lock to 60 at high settings never mind maximum.

4K@60 FPS "native" no FSR/DLSS is still ways off GPU wise, specially if you throw RT at it. atlest 3 years away imo atlest till next great game engine comes out and put graphics bar higher, never mind if engine trying to do 4k has it own issues.

Considering the framepacing issue Fromsoft engine has had since DS day's i surprised the studdering isnt more prevalent

I wanted to get this game for PS5 but performance mode is seriously lacking, it look like performance Nioh/Nioh 2 got in performance mode on ps4, just it not 1080p, I think there push res to high on said peformance mode.

I will get this on my PC, as it still superior, I can pick 1440p get 60fps and where that fails pick 1080p and get 60fps, 4k is nice but not if it means 30fps or less I will take 1080p or 1440p any day of week if mean stable 60 fps.

Seeing i been gaming on my pc again, I can say with out shadow of doubt playing console game on that had PC release on said PC at 60 FPS stable special when console couldnt muster it is still amazing.

Elden ring in Performance mode should have no issue on Current consoles doing 60fps at 1440p dynamic res. 4k is not realistic less some form checkboard or fsr is used and if it being use and still issue hitting 60 fps stable then they doing something wrong

I'm finally having the chance to play this game more often. The artwork is amazing. The level of detail looks fantastic in my opinion. With HDR enabled and being displayed on OLED in 4k, the visuals are bliss with max settings. Leveling up and farming runes are time consuming for me. I also have to become more educated with the different items that I have. I may have some super powered tools and not know what to do with them. Lol! I'm not an expert with From Software games but I am very impressed with Elden Ring and Sekiro.

I honestly suck at this game but I'm still enjoying myself and continue to play.

    My stats.

    Vigor - 27
    Mind - 17
    Endurance - 20
    Strength -35
    Dexterity - 35
    Intelligence - 10
    Arcane - 8
    Faith - 8

I'm level 81 and still getting my butt kicked lol. I'm using the full Caspian Armor Set with the Samurai class. I also have the Caspian Sword and Shield but I must increase Intelligence and Arcane to use them effectively. My Katana is at level 12. I'm more the warrior melee type. I have to get used to the camera and learn when to properly strike and dodge.

My PC setup doesn't struggle and the gameplay stays very smooth. I need runes! LOL!

Yeah the learning curve is pretty steep with this game. It takes ages to get the hang of everything as the game doesn't hold your hand at all. I enjoyed it as it wasn't something I have played before.

    Hey there Madness,

Any good easy spots to farm runes? I came across a video that shows how to lead a giant steel ball off the ledge and farm runes but I'm only getting about 2,400 per run.

I Just read and "liked" alot of older post within this thread and picked up some good tips. Thanks Gurus.

I do have a question. As we all can see the "Elden Ring" world is messed up due to internal beefs and sickos. I hope I'm one of the good guys working to restore order and making this world a better place. I want to have a good goal that I'm working towards to enjoy the game more. It's just how I'm wired.

If anyone can PM me that would be cool. I don't want to ask questions that would spoil anything for new players. Oh yeah ummmmmm.........anybody got some spare runes or rune tips thay can toss to TheDigitalJedi?

If you want some advice, quit leveling str/dex and get your vigor and endurance to 40 each. If you can respec I would pick either strength/dex but not both, and you will have an easier time without losing much damage, if you pick a weapon that scales with whichever one you leveled.

For a start you really want the 20% more runes Scarab.

Then I used this one for a while. 14k runes for every time the bird fell off the cliff.

I wonder if you use a Vulkan wrapper would performance increase?

I settled on a res of 3600x2025 to clean up performance in the end. Things are just about stable at 60fps now. I could look into that vulkan thing although I have no experience using it.

Yes I already have the Scarab. The Rot level was a gigantic pain and so were the two bosses. It took me awhile to beat them and finally obtain the Scarab.

I just had a good session. My Uchigatana is now level 16. I increased my Vigor and Intelligence so I can utilize my Caspian weapons.

As a person coming to Elden Ring having played all Souls games ER seems to put more focus on status effects and ranged attacks, melee only is notably harder at least until you overlevel enough.
Also leveling seems to take more time, guess the game intends you to explore the open world to find items and gain runes.

Honestly I both like and dislike ER versus Souls games but still relatively early myself, only just beat Margit the dicksucker, kek.
As a first story boss that was an experience, felt like a late game boss from Souls.
Though afaik casters can just stand back and wreck him so...

but that's part of the problem, Souls games went out of their way to make each boss and encounter doable with any build.
ER seems to practically penalize melee and reward casters / ranged combat.

I like the added focus on status effects and variation though, but the balancing seems a little off at least early game.
Also the obscurity of FromSoft games in an open world setting really makes you go wtf am I supposed to be doing now more often than not.

Really unlikely since ER is DX12 readily

It doesn't seem to make good use of DX12 IMO. In my testing it runs better on a 1080 Ti than a overclocked 2070 Super. Pascal is nonplussed with DX12.

I've played some more, abt 44 hrs now on record, and I'm starting to feel this game.
I am honestly so glad they brought back powerstancing in Elden Ring.

I'm now using 2 Blood infused katanas and bathing in blood, lols!

Overall I do love the combat mechanicswise, feels like it takes a little from each prior from soft game, sekiro included, and as such has lots of depth.
(And by each prior I mean starting from Demon's up to Sekiro.)

    Hey Gurus,

The thing I'm noticing while playing is that no matter how powerful my character becomes, the game is still challenging. I think that's pretty cool. When I look at the grandiose structures and castles it makes me wonder how this fantasy world looked before the war. I then think of our beautiful monuments and structures we have worldwide and wonder how many we lost due to flood, wars and neglect. Seeing the beauty of France, Africa, England, Spain, Rome, Mexico, Italy, South America and others truly make me wonder about our world's ancient civilizations.

I'm now in the Atlas section of this game. Talk about amazing. The castles here are breathtaking. Most of my playing hours are spent looking at the environments while on my Steed. I like trying to fight the 2 big golden horse riding Sentinels. I'm currently getting washed LOL!

I have no idea how this game is going to end. I never looked at the spoilers. I hope the peace and beauty of this world is restored once the last boss is defeated. I then want to see the people live happily ever after. As I walk through the beautifully restored lands and towns, the people cheer for TheDigitalJedi!!! The pubs welcome me and I'm surrounded by gorgeous women.

    ~The End~

Performance wise, not a hitch. This still plays butter smooth. Boss fights and all.

If Souls games are anything to go by - and the setting is practically identical to them just with changed names - the end is most likely along the lines of "and the cycle repeats".
Granted there are likely several endings based on what you do, but none of them will most likely change this.

That's kind of the ongoing theme, you are just a part of a cycle that's going on and on.
Whether it's about becoming the Elden Lord or the Linker of Fire or whatever.
That said I've always found endings of From games very satisfying.

Also I have to say ER to me is a notable step up in graphics compared to DS 3 and even Sekiro.

At first glance it isn't so obvious but lighting is clearly improved, there's a GI implementation now, and character models have a notable bump in their poly count and subsurface scattering making them look more believable.
Texture resolution is clearly higher and textures are by and large nicely crisp all around even if the game world is larger than ever.

I have had quite a few crashes to desktop though but they might be due to AMD driver 22.6.1, had only one crash with 22.5.2 during 10 hours or so.
Running in borderless window seems to have alleviated the crashes but performance is worse than in fullscreen, framerate dips more often.

Game would need optimization, frame rate dips are not due to hardware being taxed.
GPU is practically sleeping all the time and CPU isn't used that heavily either.

    Hi Asiju,

This game is huge! Sometimes I get lost and wonder what I'm supposed to do next LOL! I home now and was about to have another session. I'll will be back and forth with Elden Ring and Cyberpunk. Dragam post some super sharp pics and shared his settings. Now I gotta play again. Lol!

What level are you at now? I'm at 85.
