Looks like they have started to issue a recall.

Good thing I've not yet installed my 360 Revision 1.0. I wrote the dealer asking about a replacement.

That really sucks, at least they're stepping up and taking responsibility

Almost bought one a week ago. Will wait a bit for feedback at Rev 1.1 then.

For **** sake. First EK product I ever bought and this happens.

    So disappoint.

I haven't experienced any problems with mine so far, and I'm sooooo disinterested in having to rip mine all out and return it. SUCKS

Hope this wont hurt them much.it's a pity as they are really good at what they are producing and think that this is their first problem I heard about.

They are an excellent company. Hopefully they can get through this unscathed and without much damage to their users.

like the nickel plating thing where EK threw their retailers under the bus & wouldnt honor returns or RMAs, denied that their plating was at fault (blaming coolant additives lol), & then changed warranty terms after hundreds of blocks were already sold? (the terms set in place when you buy the product can not be legally altered fyi)

yeah maybe they learned their lesson from mishandling that debacle

The fact that they acknowledged it and did a recall at least is a good sign. Most larger companies would just ignore it and pretend it's a small an isolated issue.

Even a noob can do that. My loop's not leaking in almost a year now, and it was my first build. And for certain things it pays off.

I already recieved an 1.1 unit. Seems they have also changed some stuff for the mounting. My x79 system died with the old unit though. Finally I can test my prefilled fury x block. (Mounted weeks ago) good thing I tested the unit first before also connecting the gpu to the loop. Hoping everything will work well. Installing it this saturday :)

Just as you recommended it to me ;) Joking aside, bummer nonetheless. I know the feeling of having to dismount a part like that, reapply new paste, fiddle with the fans and everything.

This stuff happens because engineers and QC people are paid hourly or salary. They don't get a single dime more if the product succeeds or fails. They should only be motivated to work just well enough to not get fired. Looks like someone may have slightly crossed that line this time. Hopefully not.

... or, they just didn't properly QA test the first revision of the cooler with enough scenarios to catch this particular issue before they went ahead with distribution.

Sounds to me like you're reaching for something that may not be there.. stuff like this happens to many companies. Don't know that you could connect it to "employee motivation".. I'd wager this could happen with our without employee engagement.

id conjecture a small combination of both. probably cut the QA testing phase short prematurely to save money.

now, the plating scandal, that was corner-cutting, pure & simple. i very much hope they learned their lesson from that one. years ago they plated waterblocks 7-8 microns short of the minimum requirement for corrosion proofing. thats A LOT - about 40%. since they threw my favorite retailer (sidewinder) under the bus, i refuse to buy EK new to this day...but i do like most of their products.

its heartening to see them responding with a simple apology & good exchange policy, but they need to step it up - thats not enough. AIO systems can not leak or ya shouldnt be selling them, period.

It's funny..I just read an interview in CPU Magazine where they were saying they had been "...working on this product line for years." and "...were not going to launch the product until they could deliver a product worthy of the EK brand." That's just the kind of BS marketing jargon companies say when bringing a product to market. If they spent that long working on the product you wouldn't expect a Total Recall...pun intended.
