Even though the risk of spreading this is way less likely than the media presents it, I'm still amazed at how easily these people are allowed to travel in and out of these countries knowing that they just came from Africa where they were treating patients with this disease.

It's not "politically correct" to have a travel ban, and as everyone knows it's much worse to be thought of poorly than having your country exposed to a deadly infectious disease.

    No one cares. Literally nobody.

And by this I mean, Ebola appearing in a "western" nation isn't anything to be concerned about. There's no travel ban, so yeah. It's not going to take over the world.

its pretty much hyped up, like others stated, there were so many more deaths caused by other illnesses.

But i simply dont get why people are allowed to travel so easily. they would put a healthy dog on quarantine but none of those traveling from infected regions.

    some people care

they need to tackle ebola on origin, not banning travels

See, you cant blame people for thinking that **** like this isnt intentional when they can run tests on people in the countries severely effected by these disease, yet, they dont bother to test the volunteer workers or doctors until they get back.

How stupid are these people. When finished a tour of duty, why arent they placed in quarantine for a decent amount of time in order to see if any symptoms arise along with doing daily tests.

    This.
I would make quarantine zones for people who want to leave those countries. Two weeks under quarantine before leaving, inform every person entering country, either accept that or turn away.

Ebola is not a particularly dangerous infectious disease in a western nation with any level of preparedness. It is not particularly communicable in a massive way.

Travel bans are unacceptable because of the harm they cause to economies and the unintended consequences. A dozen people getting to other countries with a disease with a low likelyhood of spreading is far less damage than removing all tourist and aid travel to a third world country for a year.

You would have it such that no doctors from western countries are allowed to help these people with a disease that's ravaging their people? If you wouldn't allow that, you're selfish or misguided. If you would allow doctor travel, then you're not stopping anything because almost all the people who come back sick are doctors.

Nevermind that travel bans don't work. People find ways in and out, and they do it via means and for reasons that spread disease. Let business continue as normal. Until it mutates to become airborne (if it ever does) it isn't particularly dangerous here. If it does mutate, then your travel ban doesn't matter.

I'm sure the west african tourism industry would feel the effects...:3eyes:

You are right, stopping people with exposure to ebola from coming to an area without ebola would actually cause more problems and more disease...

I'm amazed that you can actually read through what you said and not second guess it for a second, that makes me sad for the state of indoctrination and puppet thought we are going through at this point in the world.

Nobody suggested travel bans. But if you are an aid worker who is sent there specifically to treat infected patients, you should be quarantined before being allowed back to whatever country you are from. Ebola may not be a virus that spreads like the flu, but it is still a deadly disease.

And how much money from tourism could these countries possibly make?

I'm not saying we should relax, but Ebola is news gold to the media.
