My parents need a new router, so I'm going to get them the ASUS RT-AC68U. I see it has USB 3.0. Would it be smarter to get a separate NAS solution or somehow connect an external to the router? I'm guessing for it to work the best with Apple devices, it needs to be a special apple device.

Just wanted general feedback about the idea. I'd love for it to work the way iCloud works, but at home.

EDIT: ASUS offers something called aiCloud, which allows you to hook up an external to the router and download the apps on your phones and such to upload. This sounds legit but doesn't have the best ratings in the apple app store. While I think it could work, it seems a more Apple friendly storage solution is needed for 100% ease of use.

    Thanks.
