Until you stop subscribing and lose access to "your" library.

No thanks EA, you disgusting animals, I'll stick with things I can have some semblance of ownership over.

When Unravel is your best title in the AAA game line-up.

As my usage isn't always constant, and I don't fancy EA deciding which games I paid for I can play next month, this is nothing for me. If they introduce a broken update again (like back in the day when they killed SLI with more than one BF1 update) I didn't play until it was fixed, now I'd have to throw 15€ at EA for not playing during that time...

So yes, uhm.... no. Screw your subscription model, EA.

    I think:
    - Pay $100 a year for subscription, This gets you certain amount of 'credits'
    - Use credit to add permanent content to your account. (At least 1 full AAA Game and something extra around.)

I assume they will still be selling games, just that this will be a step up from EA access where you now get access to every EA instead of the ones they add to EA access vault.
EA access was ok because i could get a month access for £2 and that allowed me to play games like Dragon age 3 and Unravel, but apart from a few games i had no real reason to continue with more than a month here and there once i had played the odd game, i don't know, maybe EA access has been a bigger success than we thought and EA have decided to go fully towards the sub model.

Yes, both that service and BF5, iirc.

I used their access to get a discount on buying BF1+ premium, saved a few € that way, quit right after my purchase (iirc you got discounts on games if you're an access subscriber).

I do hope they still sell games the "traditional" way, I don't even want to pay for access anymore (doesn't add up for a game unless you made an order of above 100€, BF1+prem used to be 130...)

Well in Australia Fifa 19 will cost $89.99 for the baseline Standard Edition and likewise Battlefield 5 will be priced the same. Origin Access Premium will cost $129.99 per year, if you pre-order or buy 2 or more AAA titles per year from EA on release day, this ends up being a cheaper service and it will give you access to all their other games too.

However I do wonder what Edition of the game comes in the Origin Access Premium? Standard, Delux, etc? For Fifa you get different items depending on the edition of the game.

The disappointing factor is, should I wish to cancel this service, I will no longer have access to these games after the subscription ends. Personally I think paying for this deal monthly is definitely not worth it, but if you do plan on buying 2 or more AAA titles from EA, it becomes worth getting the yearly subscription.

Thats the main problem with it. Maybe one year you got 2+ AAA (BFV, Anthem, whatever XII, ...) games you want to buy, one year later you got none aaaaaaaaand still have to pay 100€/year if you want to keep playing your "old" games ( BFV ).

Seems a good deal if you like EA games... but in the long run i dont know if it is that good.

I wonder if the subscription gives you access to all the loot boxes and microtransactions or if you still need to pay even more money for that.

^^I see it is only for PC, i wonder if this will come to the consoles because i might be temped for £3.99(i am sure i can knock another £1.50 off that with third party code sellers), to give ME4 with all the DLC a run through. ;)

Just buy games from Bethesda, they are the only legit company anymore. The other ones are all about stock holders and making them rich. They don't give a crap about gamers, even tho we are the ones making them their money.

Is it permanent? I had heard you lose access to it so long as you're not subscribed.

It was idea on how it should work for it to be attractive. Once subscription ends, all games which you did not purchase with points are disabled.
And that $100 a year should give enough credits for you to purchase one full AAA title. This way you enjoy all that's available and then as it is about to end, you can either buy that what you liked and want to continue playing, or you prolong subscription and get additional credits.
So, if you cancel subscription after few years, you would have quite some credits to buy either older or new titles.

And then there is this reversed side of things. You are in middle of your subscription period (or have none yet) and you decide to buy few games for real money instead of credits, in value of $100. Your subscription is automatically extended for another year above current limit. Or by proportional part based on spent amount.
This would be easy way on how to get people into subscription. And it would give something that will outlive that subscription.

If only they made games I cared to play anymore. Battlefield was the last one and that's pretty much dead to me now too.

On a slightly related and equally unappealing note: Doesn't Origin already offer some $5/month game-pass service for many of their slightly older titles? Anything on the list that I'm interested in I already own. They just seem to churn out rubbish anymore to make money. Every year a new version. Their games have no soul.

I have absolutely no interest in Anthem, Fifa, NFS, Star Wars, or Battlefield so I guess I am EA-free? :p
