E8500/780i unstable oc*fixed* Hello, i got my E8500 to 3.8Ghz with 1.25vcore and it runs fine playing games, ect. but i ran prime 95 and thread 1 failed after 2 hours 40 mins, while thread 2 ran on to 8 hours 40 mins. also intel burn test lasted 1 test and failed on the second one. is there any way to improve stability? maybe upp cpu vcore? thanks. Take it to 1.30 vcore and see how it goes, and yes u might be getting faults on ur test cuz of it, i mean 3.8Ghz@ 1.25vcore is pretty good since u were able to take it that far with that voltage.
well, im running the test now(intel stress test) and temps are looking at 72c max w/zalman 9700... is that acceptable for 1.3vcore? btw puting new fans in my case soon also, wich will give a bit better airflow. results in the morning...
well ive got mine at 4.0ghz but ive got 1.37 going through mine and on the intel test it goes to 71/72,but in the bios of my p35 board it is set to 1.45,crappy v/droop
yes! stable for 1 hour on intel burn test!(20 tests) is this long enough to give accurate results? set at 1.3vcore in BIOS, HWmonitor says 1.27 max. also 72c max. thanks for help all, got it stable
awesome though until farcry2/crysis warhead im probably going to back off the clock though. but definitly good for now thanks for help. well now i just have to figure out how to edit the thread title... <_<
Haha gratz Yeah your temps seem high to me. I'm running 400x8 at 1.42v (1.45 in bios) and I peak at about 62 on my hottest core. I have an Asus Silent Knight II. Sort out the airflow.
highest i get during gaming is 63c. and the fan is controlled by the temps so it stays around there on stock clocks also... but the intel burn test runs your CPU at 100% for a very long time, something most applications don't do.(including crysis!) and besides, i think my airflow is a bit down due to a smaller case, ill probably put in a better intake fan soon... anyways everything seems wonderful so im probably just going to leave it. thanks for help
