There's nothing wrong with what was said, humans are screwing with the way nature works and eradicating weakness from the gene pool is a necessity so the species doesn't wind up as Wall-E fat asses with declining health and intellect.

Hell even the perfect socialist society demonstrated in Star Trek showcased as such.

Don't bet all your tokens on that statement.
I wouldn't be surprised if it increases today with 200, and tomorrow with 300.

There's already word coming out of northern Italy that certain hospitals are already packed full with no physical space left to put any more beds; They are erecting tents for triage but more and more people show up with pneumonia signs, difficulty breathing and terrible coughing.
It will get ugly there really fast...

Humans no longer live under the rules of natural selection, per se. Cultural evolution is much faster and more efficient than natural evolution and that's the way forward for us.

If we lived by the rules of nature then half of all children would die before reaching adulthood (as it was before the age of modern medicine). We would be dying from common bacterial infections (as it was before antibiotics) as well as viruses (before the invention of vaccines). The reason we live such good lives is because we fight against nature and there is no sense in trying to introduce a survival-of-the-fittest mentality back into our lives.

I live near Seattle. It's starting to feel a little eerie considering this is a hotspot for the Nation. I expect school closures soon. MLB said my Seattle Mariners may open season in 2 weeks in Peoria, AZ (spring training home) and that games may not be played in front of fans this year.

Not surprised, things are getting out of hand because people are reckless with this virus, and still believe it's a flu.

Take a look at Italy, hospitals are full, people in beds in the hallways, people needing chemotherapy being refused for the moment. It's that bad of there, and other countries will follow if no drastic measures are taken.

But that is exactly why, as a species we are getting weaker and weaker every generation. The amount of fucktards going around these days basically boasting about every genetic, mental, physical disability or condition they have and how many things they are allergic to, or can't eat, or can't be in same room as, it is pathetic. In all of history those types would have died off early and the remaining humans would have been stronger genetically than most who will now be alive for next generations of weakened genes. And yes I know this sounds very "Nazi" but that doesn't make it not true...

I agree completely, although calling you a "nazi" is a leftist marxist fallacy.
Natural selection is the process of letting the strong survive by itself, and the weak die by itself.
There is nothing wrong or evil in letting nature take its course, it is just the number of weak people has grown exponentially thanks to technology and the welfare states.
Plus the lack of major wars in the past 70 years has made most western people soft, weak and pathetic !!
Of course, because it is men who bear the weight of civilization, so the mentality of emotion over logic and pragmastism will make us face the consequences one day.
These emotional oestrogenic societies are the epitomy of weakness and certain wars to come from stronger men, and epidemies taking care of the weak minded and physical ones.

No, we are not getting weaker. The human race has never been stronger and we enjoy a standard of living that far exceeds that of our predecessors (and humans in the future will likely live far better lives than us). We also live very long and healthy lives compared to other animals, whose lives are often times brutal and short (nature is red in tooth and claw).

Evolution is not about getting "stronger", it is about becoming better adapted to the environment for the survival of the species. In that sense, we humans are doing extremely well as we can control our environment to a large extent and our survival is beyond question. We are the apex species on our planet right now and we owe that mostly to cultural evolution - the passing on of memes instead of genes.

Also, diversity with in the species is a crucial aspect of survival. Trying to eliminate "weak" members of society from the gene pool reduces genetic diversity and makes us more susceptible to viruses and bacteria. This is why social darwinism is wrong from a scientific standpoint - trying to create the ideal, perfect humans will actually make us a lot weaker.

Evolution is about letting decide who is fit or not, being strong or intelligent is a strength, being stupid or physically weak is a drawback.
Technology has allowed to us to go beyond that, but unless we go into complete transhumanism with gene modifications or we become full machines; the rules of strength and weakness will always prevail.

    BZZZZZZZZZT, WRONG.

Consult Science for a change instead of blinkered media, This generations health and well being is decreased in comparison to those that came before it.

I'm not one of the hysterical ones, I'm a no bs down to earth person so here's a fact, numbers this week
    monday 110'000 cases worldwide
    tuesday 115'000 cases worldwide
    wednesday 119'000 cases worldwide
even if the death toll is a low % at the rate of infection and how fast it spread from 1 country to 108+ in like 1-2 months it's still worse than all the previous more deadly viruses in our modern era

fyi I recently had to go to an hospital and they have people robbing them of masks and steril liquid thing so had to set security at the door...
also the death toll is going up fast because I was told as the hospital that patient in danger require respiratory help with a tube and machine and they don't have thousands of machines and material to do that so what happened in Italy is that they ran out of them and now the death go up fast
also it's not an "insta-death" sickness it's not because today there's 1 death there won't be 200 tomorrow, as seen in italy where they suddenly had 150+ death in one day
if you're lucky enough to still have your parents or grand-parents think of them, young people seem to not care at all :/

I can see both sides of the argument really.

However its more complicated than saying we are weaker than we were. Weaker in what sense? Life expectancy is going up, technology is getting better, medicine is advancing etc etc. If your logic is 'well that's because we are dependent on the creation and invention of other people' - then explain why people who don't possess the luxury of the people in the western world are doing far far worse? By that theory, they are supposed to be stronger - does it really count if their life expectancy are halved?

Allergies, physical disability, mental disability are all drawbacks yes - but they are not to the species detriment one bit. To say a specie of 7 billion is getting weaker because some selected group of people doesn't meet your criteria of 'strength' is ignorant. The same concept can be applied to any specie using any random criteria.

When we consider a 'specie' - we have to take into account everything it has to offer. If I strip you of everything you have and place you in the middle of the Amazon forest - I guarantee most wouldn't last no matter how 'strong' or 'intelligent' they are or think they might be, simply because we are (and have been for a while) at a stage where environmental conditions has the least impact on us and we are being driven forward by civilization. Our strength is our intellect - and with every passing generation, human being as a specie is getting smarter and accomplishing more. Using dumb Joe next door as an example and a counter-argument doesn't work.

Did you actually click on the link and do some reading? For starters; its not 'Millennials', its 'Millennials in the US'.

Here is a paragraph from the article:

"Healthcare is one of four key costs plaguing millennials. In 1960, the average annual cost of healthcare per person was $US146 – in 2016, it hit $US10,345. When adjusted for inflation, that’s a ninefold increase. Costs are expected to further increase to $US14,944 in 2023."

Yea, we don't need Einstein here to do the Math.

It seems in Italy has discovered that Tocilizumab (used to threat arthritis) helps the recovery of corona patients in critical condition.

They tested this on 2 patients so far and tomorrow they can be extubated, because their condition has increased significantly.

US Surgeon General released some interesting info yesterday in a press conference:

*99% of symptomatic cases (cases in which the patient knows he's infected because he has symptoms--runny nose, sneezing, etc.) only occur in people 60 years of age and older. They are the most vulnerable, but even for them the risk is low.

*Young people seem immune--he actually used that word--and said that the flu would get young people before COVID-19 ever would.

*Average age of death globally is 80 + other underlying medical conditions--according to the CDC, very similar to common flu in that regard.

*Risk of a COVID-19 infection itself is low.

Best Precaution? Clean your hands with sanitizer several times a day--6-10 times--and always after going out, opening doors, shaking hands, etc.

IMO, the silly panic over this is far more damaging than COVID-19 itself. It will be gone by summer.
