How do you that? One is from e3 and from the release. They both could be raytraced as far as we know. Still, it does not change the coloring which still looks cartoony compared to original.

Without RT it looks like garbage, with RT it's a total different game.

it looks extremely bad. im not into fancy graphics, it's a good thing but that's not what bothers me.

what bothers me is that it looks LAZY. the entire vegetation\green theme looks like Rollercoaster Tycoon instead of normal
modern-look vegetation to fit the game atmosphere. less green, less bright, more diverse.. this is procreating annoying to look at.

Gameplay is alright so far, feels a bit slow. Could be the fact that there is no sprinting button anymore, and the character just autosprints and increases speed over time?
Durability on weapons is better than DL1, but still ass. Performance is whack as mentioned before. Climbing/jumping from house to house is a bit choppy and not as fluent as I imagined.
Combat is pretty much the same as in DL1. Use 1 grey weapon to beat a zombie in 30mins. Haven't figured out how to disassemble unused weapons yet.

I caved in and started playing. As I said earlier in this thread, I was quite skeptical on visual fidelity (including RT) after watching several Youtube videos.

I'm only 2 hours in. But my initial impression is this game's RT is up there (if not better) with Metro Exodus EE and Control which are top two RT titles in my view.

Yes, that is a real image.
But the 2018 "E3 Demo" was a pre-rendered "what the game could maybe look like" prototype. It was not in game.

It certainly is questionable practice at best. Though, these days, games never look like their E3 demo, and more often than not, it will look worse on release.
I looked at videos of the game and a friend of mine streamed it yesterday, to be honest, he chose to go with higher resolution (4K instead of 1440p which his screen has) instead of any ray tracing effects. I have yet to see the game by night though.
DF's video about how ray traced global illumination makes the game considerably darker in most areas, but also bringing the vibe across better imho, from what videos I saw.

But already with the ray tracing demo from Nvidia, I did not have the impression the game looks as good as it could. This is a very subjective opinion based on compressed video and stream, and as such, I know it's faulty. But it doesn't make me want to spend the money to find out either tbh.
I think it looks okay or good, but not exceptional in any way.

BUT that doesn't say anything about the gameplay, of course, which did look rather solid via stream I have to say.

    RT_AO(1)
    RT_SS(1)
    RT_Lit(1)
    RT_GiDif(1)
    RT_GiSpc(1)

Make a big difference to the visuals even on my non-RT card, getting around 50fps @ 2160p.

post some rt-on shots of the city in daylight
imo rt-on still looks far off from the demo
    rt-off is just hilarious.

Are there any comparison pics or vids of rt on vs off? Just curious. I won't be touching this game but I am curious to see the difference. Not sure why people keep supporting bad practices like these downgrades. I guess to try and be fair, this is what happens when you decide to support last gen consoles in the middle of the development. Although, from the videos ...this looks more like a late gen 360 game.

like I said before,rt on is nice except for long distance shots of the city from above
    rt off is hilarious

    https://imgsli.com/OTQ2NzM

rt off is just over man.nvidia has had it for four years, amd for two.a lot of devs will just stop trying to make rasterized versions look good, they'll do enough to make them run fine on older generations like pascal/rdna1 but the looks of non-rt versions won't be a priority.
