It is no secret that he is a staunch and immovable supporter of the RT technique. But beyond that he's done a truly professional analysis with so many tests and settings that it's hard to think of a better job than this. Kudos to Alex

60fps with Ryzen 5 3600 and RX 6600 on mid-range with Raytracing enabled in 1080p possible? Somehow...? ;)

Just started the game, switched to DX12 and dialed in Digital Foundry's mid-range settings (I've got an 2070 Super) at 1440p using DLSS Quality.

Opening forest bits run at 80-85 fps for me. Feels smooth. I could try and add some Ray Tracing, but I feel like I've tasted smoothness now, and anything below this is gonna feel like a letdown.

Rest of my system: 3900X, 32 GB RAM, game on SATA SSD, Win10

I don't think so. I don't own the game my self but a friend has it and his system has a 5800X, 6700XT, 16GB 3600MHz CL16 RAM, and he plays the game at 1080p mixture of medium to high settings with RTGI enabled (all other RT disabled) and he just about hits 60fps, with 54fps min so far but he has freesync monitor so it helps a lot.

It's only AMD's first implementation of RT, Nvidia's wasn't so hot either first gen. I'm sure they'll nail it with RDNA3

Considering thats actual 1080p rendering resolution it sure does and it probably looks bad on a 4k monitor.

Downloading now. Bought it through Techland, so as to support the Developers. Can't wait to fire this game up :)

Vega64 + Ryzen 2600, works very well, better than Cyberpunk on release day.
3440x1440 native + DigitalFoundry's mid-range settings (with fog on low), 40-50 fps in outside areas, ~60 inside. Borderline amount of fps, but super smooth, thanks to freesync.
FSR Quality is useless, looks bad, but gives huge performance boost. I can't stand it though.

Overall for me, the game looks stunning. Finally a game for me :)

rt off looks like crap compared to rt on,I'd suggest holding off till one can get a rt-capable card.

another example of the developer doing precious little and couting on nvidia for a miracle.
at least rt on looks really good here.rt off looks worse than DL1 for me.

Playing on a laptop with 5900hx + 3080 16gb, runs quit well with ultra graphics RT dlss quality @ 1080p, some dips to 50 when too many zombies on screen

    i'll post a video later

It really is nothing special without RT. It already looks dated in pretty much every aspect. I agree with DF this time that RTGI and RTAO are a must for this game to look a bit up to date. It's funny that they have an option to add RTGI to the flashlight, which does almost nothing btw, but didn't bother to add RT shadows to it :)

Difference in framerate is insane. @Memorian went from 47fps to 26fps in that scene with that 3080ti. And no i dont think it looks that bad with rt off and there is nothing else to play.
We can always replay it once the hardware catch up.

Even with RT on, the game doesn't look no where as good as it demands to be. I should reserve my judgement until I play it but at least, from watching YT videos.

It's not from my PC. That screenshot is taken from DSOG(RTX 3080) and it's running at native 4K.

So, is it worth a buy ? I'm waiting to see the fixes in the new patch today.

Ah, sorry didnt know that. Still, abysmal performance. dlss is a must here but even that wont help much.

Yeah DLSS and FSR are a must if you are going to run any kind of Ray Tracing. Game does look quite stunning at 4k maxed settings.
