Due to my hand surgery, i won't really test the driver in the very near future. Sorry for that.

Im i seeing this right, gtx580 beating a gtx950 in doom? Is that even possible?

Fermi's biggest chip, GTX580, won't get any performance boost from DX12 worth mentioning.
Just look at the GTX660 compared to that old chip, remember to compare stock vs stock, oc vs oc.

Compatibility, dude. Performance isn't matter, they just want to get ability to run DX12.
Nvidia screwed them cuz they promised DX12 for Fermi. Shame.

The biggest DX12 performance impact could be for those who have CPUs with low performance on single thread tasks, more old CPUs in most cases, like Phenom or first generation i7's, etc...

Even for AMD FX CPU too. While i was running the game in medium preset the CPU wasn't really giving the best out of it compare to ultra preset. Lost easy 5-10 fps in medium preset.
Anyways, as you can see 580 stock even outperform the 950 stock in doom. If i apply some OC (wasn't max oc at all in the first video), it gives the 960 performance pretty much. Well, at least in this game .

Yes, I know, I was just saying that Phenoms are most likely to have more gains on performance than FX. I'm planning to buy a AM3+ board soon as I can, as I said a few posts back, the API Overhead indicates how much behind is the Phenom compared to everything else, even FX's. But I'm pretty sure that newer games will have a good increase to FX's CPUs to, especially 6 and 8 cores chips.

About the 580, what clocks you oc this GPU? A quick calculation can give some numbers to compare.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_500_series
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GeForce_900_series

The stock 580 have about 1581.1 GFLOPS accordingly with this chart. This is
    772 MHz * 2 (Shader clock) * 512 Cuda cores * 2 or 1544*512*2 = 1581.1

The stock 950 have 1572 GFLOPS and the 960 about 2308 GFLOPS, also accordingly with the 900 series chart.

So it's safe to say that the 580 stock, can reach about the 950 performance. I don't know how much you oc this card, but let's say that is up to 1000MHz:

    1000 MHz * 2 (Shader clock) * 512 Cuda cores * 2 or 2000*512*2 = 2048.0 GFLOPS

This is a little more than half way towards the 960 stock. But also we can try to count that the 580 have about the double of memory bandwidth that the 960, and if the 580 memory have OC, can be even more than double, so it can certainly influence on the benchmarks too:

    Bandwidth (GB/s)
    580 stock: 192.4 GB/s
    580 mem OC 2420 MHz: 232.3 GB/s
    950 stock: 106 GB/s
    960 stock: 112 GB/s

But the only way to know is testing more, but is plausible say that a 580 can have about the 960 stock performance on a least some games.

I know how it works, didn't need explanation . Just was saying that performance isn't important (maybe I should say "most important"), because people got mad cuz promised was broken. Don't sure if people really getting angry because they hoped for performance boost.

I think i was running the GPU @960 or 970. This GPU can do around 1100 MHz. Normally i don't go higher than 1050. Memory, i use such a small amount of OC. Only 2130 , i don't like to push it more.

I don't truly understand the thing, Forza 6: GPU: Radeon R7 250X / GeForce GT 740 or equivalent . With the DX 12 driver 400/500 series will happily run this game.

Yes, many people was on the hype to DX12, but it is not exclusive to Fermi, is more a tech mainstream hype... As I said, a least for me, I just want DX12 because I have a 940BE :eyes:

Or consider the situation of Siriq, he wants to play Forza, but no DX12, even if it performs equals to DX11, it will run the game on playable frame rates.

I'm waiting in the next days the Redstone update on W10, many people are thinking that maybe Nvidia can update drivers with W10 too, and unlock DX12 to Fermi, the same way as the earlier Beta driver only unlocks DX12 on Redstone builds...

My two 560 can reach 1050, but I normally don't go more than 1000MHz, my power supply can't deliver much more to increase more GPU voltage, but at 1000, it's about 1400~ GFLOPS per card, it's not bad. But memory I go from 2000 to 2405, very easily, goes up from 128GB/s to 153.9GB/s, without any voltage mod, I think that you can go about the same clocks on memory too, without any problems...

    This is not true.

I wish people would stop perpetuating this myth...

Why did you say that? Can you elaborate about it? I can't test the driver on november build, because the system already deleted the recovery files, but I think that on Windows 10 Nov update, the drivers really does not enable DDI 12.0 level....
