So I applied arctic silver to my opty a few minutes ago and suddenly my pc won't boot with the 2 sticks of g.skill in either the yellow or orange dual channel slots. It hangs with 3 red diagnostic legs. If I put the sticks into the yellow and orange slots for single channel mode, it boots no problem. I wonder wtf I could have done when I was in there to cause this...

LOL...great my ethernet ports just died on me. I'm pretty sure my mobo is dying on me so I'm RMA'ing it.

Might as well RMA the ram too. Maybe I could RMA my opty and maybe get a better one since ****ing everything else is dying ;P.

    I fixed it?!?!

I took out my opty to check the serial number and I noticed that 2 of the pins were bent down. I carefully bent them back up and now my ethernet ports work and dual channel mode as well...

I'm so ****ing dumb. I have no idea how or when these pins were bent...

my guess is when u put it in the socket, you didnt lay it flat before closing the clip. Pins bend very easy, but surprisingly enough, they're hard to break

Well no one bothered to chime in during those 3 hours where I was trying to figure this out, so I figured I would give some updates that might help in determining the problem. I wish you would come earlier though, because that little bit of insight was so very helpful :p.
