30 - 40 FPS mostly, varies a bit, using Fraps but it should be fairly accurate. EDIT: Most options are locked as shown but DX9 and DX11 do have a effect and the game runs under DX11 mode (Albeit not full as it's sort of a fallback backwards compatible middle thing or what to describe it as.) EDIT: The early environments are pretty bland and ugly though the small cramped spaces do provide some tactical possibilities although enemies usually only have the strength of having more units, it's not as bad as the introduction sequence made it feel but it's hard to judge the game from this small test of it, will be interesting to hear what other people think. EDIT: Similar INI editing method as to the first Dragon Age as well, though I couldn't get the v.high settings and re-enabled effects to stick, might be possible somehow though.
It's all in German so I mostly used it as a quick test, not that long until the actual release date and thus the other localizations to be released, I tried altering the INI files for en_us but it didn't work, read only could be one method around this though, might be interesting to try and see what happens.
at jonas beckham Have you played the first level only or have you finished it ? Cause the first level is a prolouge where you are Spoiler overpowered as the story said by the Dwarf is wrong and thats why game is easy that time . After the last screenshot you posted thats when the the real game begins actually
Yes you are correct it's from part of what the early trailer shows and my initial comments were indeed part of that sequence and not the more serious one afterwards before I understood how it had been told as a exaggeration, that later sequence after that while very similar do end up being a far bit better and even poses a decent challenge towards the end sequence of it. (Though you get a bit more powerful in terms of XP boost and equipment than you are meant to have but I think the area is also specifically tuned for a demo show in this version and with this alteration in mind.) (For a exaggeration it's pretty well told though, said dwarf has a very lively imagiantion, tons of gore and cinematic kills and extra effects down to how the NPC sidekick has larger "assets" and how overpowered you actually are taking down swarms of darkspawn grunts and that ogre without much effort.)
I think their is a level where we play in Kirlwall [which i hope will look good], have you tried it ? Cause we are told we are given one more level to play after the initial starting level
I missed that, might replay the demo then if that's correct, thought it was just that early introduction sequence but a quick peek at Kirkwall should be interesting. EDIT: So it would be something like. C:\Users\UserNameWindows\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age 2\Settings\DragonAge.ini [VideoOptions] ResolutionWidth=1680 - These two need to be set to what you want to use. ResolutionHeight=1050 FullScreen=1 UseDirectX11Renderer=1 - Shouldn't have a visible effect in the demo but enables DX11 somewhat. UseVSync=0 GraphicsDetailLevel=3 - 0 - 3 value (Low to VHigh, locked to 2/high in demo but try with 3 and see.) AntialiasingLevel=2 // 2x or 4x, unsure which exactly depending on how it works. DisableMRT=0 DisableAspectRatioCorrection=0 RefreshRate=0 PresentThreshold=5 UseTrilinearFiltering=1 - Enabling these two smooth out FPS (VSync) and improve GFX lightly. UseTripleBuffering=1 UseDesktopGamma=0 Gamma=1 TexturePack=0 - I Think this means high and 1 would be medium with 2 being low setting. EnableShadows=1 EnableLatentQueries=0 EnableSSAO=1 - Can be toggled in-game as one of the fewer non-locked things. EnableHighQualityBlur=1 EnableHighQualitySoftShadows=1 - These three are forced off in the demo but might work to force like this. (DX11 only.) EnableDiffusionDOF=1 AnisotropicFilteringLevel=16 ForceLowSettings=0 [Movies] DisableIntroMovies=0 FirstRun=0 - Likely needs to be set to avoid the launcher auto re-detecting everything at start. [AudioOptions] SoundDisabled=0 SFXDisabled=0 MusicDisabled=0 VODisabled=0 UseStereoSound=0 MusicSystemDisabled=0 SoundFXVolume=10 VOVolume=10 MusicVolume=10 CutsceneListenerRadius=5 ListenerPositionOffset=0.5 StreamPriorityBoost=0 SubtitlesLevel=2 - Full subtitles enabled. ID should be set here I guess for things to work. [GamePlayOptions] Locale=en-us - These two can be set but don't likely work, second will likely need to be de-de for voices to function at all in this version. VOLanguage=en-us IniVersion=1016 DifficultyLevel=3 - Highest possible difficulty I think. ShowGore=1 PlotAssist=1 AutoPauseCombat=0 AutoSave=1 LastCampaign=campaign_base AchievementDisplayTime=5 LastPlayedGame=(UNASSIGNED) CompletedTraining=0 LootShimmer=1 SkipWelcomeMessage=1 ScreenEdgePanning=1 DisableTipText=0 RadialToggle=1 PotionOption=1 [InterfaceOptions] ShowDamageFloaties=0 ShowEffectFloaties=0 ShowDetailedFloaties=0 ShowTutorials=1 ShowGroundRings=1 HidePlayerHelmet=0 [MouseOptions] InvertXAxis=0 InvertYAxis=0 SwapMouseButtons=0 MouseSensitivity=1 MouseZoomSensitivity=2 InvertCameraToggle=0 Some other things can likely be fine tuned but there's no guarantee this would work at all, read only would be required as well.
i love that controls only played first combat since i dont want to let it go in german, but im liking that combat style a lot. At default settings (DX11) from launcher and maxed i think, it works at +60FPS.
I'd say that it is like that cuz it aint an action RPG, just RPG Besides, who wants to combat in that game? I didnt like it... But im not very fond of the point and click kinda combat. I like more the gothic style, even better, Oblivion style, or even better, Mount & Blade style (but that just may be asking too much). Nice, so i should be able to play it in DX11 at 1152x864. And then maybe let MLAA do its wonders.
So just tried the German Demo with just one card .... I played at 1920 x 1080 - 2 x AA - 16 AF - Ambient Occlusion on - DX 11 ( you CAN choose that ) - settings High ... ( If you choose Very High it defaults to high ingame ) Well it ran like S... on my system 25 - 40 FPS ... Tried to turn on 3D vision AND that game is gonna need a profile from Nvidia, ITS clearly not 3D ready ... :0( Well ... if you are gonna play this at Very High and DX 11 it s gonna take 2 x GTX 580 SLI to run it properly ... ( or other SLI setups ) Maybe the final game is better optimized ( i think not ) Looks stunning visually and the gameplay seems fun ... I like the new combat system VERY fast and fun ... :0) Im getting this on release for sure :0)
Ok tried the demo again and turned of Ambient Occlusion ... Now my FPS on a single GTX 580 is 60 + 1920 x 1080 - 2 x AA - 16 x AF - DX 11 - High settings - Ambient Occlusion Off Looks stunning and plays GREAT ...
Can you tell me about how you disabled ambient occlusion because i need to do it too. I have gtx 480 amp and i get only 10 fps at 1920x1080
it realy run like **** on my machine i dont know whats wrong with this game i get only 9-10 fps on gtx480 amp
