Probably not long, sense it's only been a year in development.......:biggun:

EA:peeleft: Wants to push these games out as fast as they can.......

So what you get is a short RPG that is great but to short.....Not worth 60$..

They have been working on it for longer than that. As soon as Dragon Age 1 was in beta they started Dragon Age 2. Bioware does not just put out a game in a year. In their contract with EA they have very very specific terms in regards to EA telling them to put out a game fast. I am sure this was like with Left 4 Dead, as soon as they got almost done they began working on Left 4 Dead 2 because of the inprovements they wanted that could not make the first one.

I will get this on launch day as I did the first one. I have 300+ hours on the first one + all DLC and am still enjoying it. If 2 is half the game as the first one I will still enjoy it just as much.

300+ hours... ****. I never played the first, but never looked into it either really. Been eyeing it lately. I'm a FPS fan, but I love RPGs like stalker, mass effect, and kinda fallout 3. Do you think I would enjoy Dragon Age? The combat doens't seem my style, but who knows.

+1 Rochin, if it's just half as good as the first one it will be worth playing. Those screenshots worry me a little though, they tend to look manga'ish...:paranoid:

If you are normally a FPS guy, the games you listed as RPGS are somewhat similar to a FPS. The play style of dragon age is not like that at all. If I were you I would find someone you know who has it and watch them or have them let you try it out. It is basically a love it or hate it type of game. Have you played any of the Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale or Planescape Torment series? If you have and liked it, then you will like this, if not, you may not like it.

They said the graphics engine improvements would make for a better looking game, so I am sure the pics are from a pre alpha.

Indeed Dragon Age was a classic style RPG, few of those come out now a days. I just hope they don't abandon this in the sequel.

As IGN said what you say its correct. And they also confirm that it is a better looking game.

So it's true, even big name video game developers still use Windows XP to make their games, to be honest I'm not surprised because I had heard of that before, although seeing this in a very recent video like that somehow surprises me, you'd expect BioWare to use Windows 7 I guess, or Vista at worse. I remember seeing a similar video filmed at Ubisoft Montreal when they were making Assassin's Creed 2, and there again I recall seeing Windows XP in action with their animation programs and so on.

Anyway, XP or not, out of the subject I guess, but it's still fun to see a game under development, I wish that there would always be a making-of for games (sometimes there are but it's rare and often only available in special editions).

Id imagine they are like most businesses and not updating to Win7 until SP1 at the least as is standard practice in most companies. Vista got missed completely by most firms due to its perceived bugginess so XP was what people had.

Well, for a DX9 only title, does it make any sense to shift development to Vista/7? Better to optimize DX9 performance, then ensure compatability (which should be quite easy to do).
