I have used both of them, currently using DP, but honestly cant say there is a big actual difference apart from the HDMI carrying audio.

If I go with a subtle opinion....I would say DP is a little more clear...

Id say go DisplayPort. It also suppost more colors if your monitor allows.

I'm on DisplayPort myself. (EIZO CX240)

Displayport does audio. I say DP.

DP has more bandwidth so if you plan on doing 120Hz/144Hz or high res its good to have, it also supports audio if you want, would have to install the drivers for it.

If you have DVI ports, trying using them, I use a dual link DVI-D cable

Display Port i think is better newer tech and i think it supports higher resolution as well than regular HDMI.

Dp is better but its apple so you all need color.org color profile .(also apple)it isn't that dp is better .but there is something preventing another from going max quality .if you use dp and ICC it doesn't happen .you all see .in game the game will look 85% OK then boom .like apple hacknoledge that yes dp & ICC version are all cool and the software unlock the last 15 % yes its a huge difference .I wish wcs virtual sRGB did it tho because wcs is so much better performance wise .but then I also wish ms would add non black scale option in sRGB (for those of us with a lesser quality display the 100% srgb

This is the only real difference DP 1.2 @ 21gbs, HDMI 1.4 still lacks bandwidth ~ 10.5gbs.

    and this
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI

    Edit: there is HDMI 2.0 now @ 18gbs, can do UHD 4k @ 60hz.

    Who says DP is apple!?:3eyes:

DisplayPort version 1.2 has an effective bandwidth to 17.28 Gbit/s....not 21....

Well if i had the chance I would use DP1.2 too, seems more advanced then HDMI. :nerd:

Let me try again . there shouldn't be a difference say at 1920x1080x60 hertz .be it HDMI dvi or dp .but there is . by the look of thing it seem it is one or a few of copyright protection kicking in .it does it on all but display port with color.org color profile .the only link between all is apple close or far .without knowing or knowingly Dev a using something that is copyright protected by apple.

hmm..interesting...now the catalysts are telling me after it came back from sleep with the dp in...that it wont do more than 60hz @ 2560x1080....hmm....if it isnt one thing, its another....
