I have succesfully downsampled up to 2720x1530 14.4 driver using "Anypaper" guide (reg. hack), however, if I try to downsample to let's say 2880x1600 or 3840x1620 I get a pink or green distorted image. Is there a way to downsample beyond 1720x1530 using this method?.

Don't quote me on this but IIRC the R9 270X is just a rebranded HD 7XXX series GPU.

So I'm going to guess that the maximum resolution you can downsample to on a HD 7XXX series / R9 270X is 2720x1530.

So can anyone tell me how can I uninstall the monitor driver manually without DDU or such?

    Hi there,

thanks for your guide ! I use it to downsample with my 290x on 7 64 bits with 13.12 drivers.

    I achieved to do 2720*1530@1920*1080 but I can't do more ? is there a limit with 290x GPU ?

    Do I have to change monitor.inf with a AOC i2757fh ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    1. So does this make a difference in on the normal desktop browsing the web and watching youtube videos, or other movies?

    2. How is this different from using the amd drivers?

No difference, except you are using the custom resolution as your Desktop resolution, but not changing your game resolution only.

These downsampling methods are pain in the arse, GeDoSaTo is the one to look forward to.

GeDoSaTo's method is interesting, but I would prefer something a bit more low-level. More specifically, GeDoSaTo's downsampler (like any other alternate d3d hook) interferes with another overlay program I use :/

Yeah agree, amd moving their collective butt and doing in-driver downsampling, like nvidia will be awesome, but I somehow lost hope in that. And it is easiest for them to do, the various hacky methods available show that everything is in place actually, just need a proper interface to fire and forget.

By any chance did you manage to set a resolution beyond 2720x1530 (such as 3840x2160)?.

Went up as far as 2560x1080p and 3440x1440

those are the logical correct aspect ratios of my aoc 29" ultrawide.
could got higher if i wanted but then my aspect ratio`s would be all broken.
