this does not work with 120hz monitors, what pixel clock should we aim for if we use higher refresh rate monitors, as I can only have 1100hz or 120hz with my 750d?

@evohan do this steps (all this time your monitor must be on his native resolution 1680x1050) :
1-on Nvidia Control Panel - Adjust desktop size and position - be sure you have
    -scaling mode: aspect ratio
    -perform scaling on: GPU
    -override scaling mode checked
2-on Change resolution - Customize - Create custom resolution :
-change horizontal pixels to 1900 and vertical lines to 1200
-don't tuch anything else, let refresh rate to 60 and timing to automatic
-press test button on the bottom: if it say success, press keep the resolution
Now, in NCP you have a custom 1900x1200 resolution, witch you will select it only in games.
For timing values, you will play with that only if your image is blurry or you have black bars.I personally use this method, for downsampling 2560x1440 to 1920x1080 with timing values on automatic, and all appears to be ok. If i understand correctly, you need to play with timings only at much higher resolutions (i mean a much higher difference between your native and your custom resolution).
Excuse my bad english, and if not all i say is right , please someone with a higher understanding, to correct me.

thank you my friend , make it

but I think what must be timing value , this is my settings but I think not enough quality for games

    Leave it at automatic.

I have display scaling instead of gpu and it works ok too

Using nVidia Control Panel, you should be able to get 2560x1600 and 2880x1800 to run perfectly on your Ultrasharp u2410. Make sure you click the "adjust desktop size and position" and select "Aspect Ratio" and perform scaling on "Display". And make sure you select 1920x1200 in the resolution box at the bottom. The Dell u2410 will work just fine using these setttings and this method has the benefit of doing the actual downsampling on the Display itself instead of the GPU, thus allowing all that extra processing power used for downsampling to give you higher frame rates.

Then click on "change resolution", select "customize", then "create custom resolution", and leave the bottom Timing section set to Automatic. And in the top section imput the two resolutions I mentioned earlier, click test... and select yes.

    bam! you're done!

    here are my set resolutions:

I can get those resolutions that was the whole point of my post.
However i have to drop down slightly as i get artifacting from monitor.

There is no difference between 2880*1800/2880*1780 and 2560*1600/2560*1580.

So the manual timing is just for finetuning the picture quality? This is the thing I still don't understand yet.

I tried 2880x1800 and although it passed, the text is not sharp, a bit out convergence. I have an Apple led cinema 24 on an Atlona converter.

Yah text is going to look like crap when you do downscaling, it's fine for games usually unless they are heavy on text.

Ok, so the text has nothing to do with the timingsettings not being set correctly? All I care are games.

Maybe it's just the the higher reso where text gets a bit wonkey ( I use 2880x1800 for now). But I ve played Crysis 2 and it works flawnessly, damn finally proper AA in games which don't support it the way I want. I'm very happy with the results:banana:

I just got my GTX Titan SLI today, I found out that my custom 3840x2400 settings are not working anymore... With a bit more testing I feel that the resolution is working but the monitor is just displaying black screen, as I had something on screen for a few seconds several times before it went black.
Can someone with Titan tell me if he can reach UHD resolution ? Thank you
Maybe it is driver related, and we'll have to wait.

Update : I managed to validate a UHD resolution (still with the black screen problem) and it seems that it is not working properly on desktop but just fine in games...

my monitor only go to 60hz but with customs resolution it can go to 75hz but

is this a bad thing. could it damage the monitor?

Ok after further tests there are no driver bugs with downsampling, my settings weren't just right, I could achieve 58hz on auto, I managed to go up to 60hz on manual
here are my settings if it could help someone :

I have started following this guide and have got my vertical Total pixels down to 1090. My question is, on the next step when I increase the Horizontal Total pixels do I keep the vertical at 1090 or do I put it back to its default setting 1125?
I assume that I should leave it at the low setting but want to double check before I continue.
    Thanks in advance!

    Update:
I kept the vertical setting low and the final figures were:
2352 horizontal and 1090 vertical. This would make the final resolution 2352x1323. Have I done this correctly?

I also tried the resolution at 2560x1440 and that works fine anyway so I am slightly confused!

Odd, I can do 2560x1440 at 120hz but can't do 3200x1800 at anything over 50hz without a pop up saying that res isn't supported by my display.

You know it can be downsampled but you dont know what resolution.
