The article indicated that this was a free version. Not free. Not even trial ware. It's Cripple Ware. It's trial ware in which all functions are not available during the trial period; hence, Cripple Ware.

I use a program called SIV - System Information Viewer

It's written by a gentleman that writes WHQL drivers.
    His name is Ray Hinchliffe.

It's a test and sensor reading utility like HWINFO and CPU-Z but with a lot more information and functions. A lot more.

It has a bit of a learning curve because of the information that it has to offer. I do highly recommend it.

Mind you it's not the nicest GUI.
Mind you there is a learning curve to using the program.
Mind you to have a cursor instead of a wizard point to all the options, use a shortcut pointing to the executable with the switch of -NOWIZARD.

To help you get started, right click in the title bar to get a listing of the functions that are available for you to start exploring.

    Download the program from.

    http://rh-software.com/ < Home page

http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/System-Information-Viewer.shtml < Softpedia site with description, explanation and pictures of the program.

99 % of you will be downloading the siv.zip file. This is for x86 and x64 OS's. The Softpedia download is this file.

Give it a go. Once you get use to getting around, you will find the program very useful.

Been using it since it was "Everest"

It showed me that something is not 100% stable with my new OC though, testing the RAM benchmark last night froze the machine - looks like the IMC is not stable maybe

Finalwire didn't buy Everest. Finalwire was started by the creator of "Everest"....

The article doesn't indicate anywhere that AIDA64 is free or even that there is a free version. Finalwire charges for all versions of AIDA64. It's also quite common for trialware to have features disabled.

Thanks a bunch for that program. Extremely detailed look into your system.

Though for a newbie it would be VERY confusing to understand. I think the GUI needs improving a little for PC newbies.

OMFG I remember using Everest, loved that program. Though it seems that the buyout has not been a good thing for the "free" version now.

There was no buyout. Tamas Miklos licensed Lavalys to distribute the former AIDA32 as Everest during his employment with Lavalys. Lavalys fired Tamas on Oct 1, 2010 and in the process lost all rights to "Everest". Lavalys never owned "Everest" so they couldn't ever sell it.

Heh, found a portable version in my repair drive folder

Doesn't look much different to AIDA64

Which makes sense when you consider that Tamas Miklos wrote both of them....

I haven't used this since it was called Everest, mainly because I've been using linux ever since and don't have a need for utilities like this. The openCL stuff is appealing though.
