Windows 10 > Settings > System Display, notifications, apps, power > Notifications & actions > Select which icons appear on the taskbar > Turn Windows Explorer Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media off.

Simple fix for the unwanted icon.

oh and btw i think the days of Nvidia drivers being good is over. Unless they stop making their drivers unified for all architectures and just focus on Maxwell and Pascal. Sorry Fermi and older users but it's gonna happen soon anyway.

Do you have any proof they are better? Takes months sometimes years for drivers to get better performance that's noticeable in games. I'll stick with working drivers.

the NvBackend.exe has been around for awhile with their drivers with the difference being that it now shows up in the Startup

@ Moderators, the 64-Bit Notebook Windows 10 driver links to the 32-Bit driver. Please fix that :)

First off, the complaints about a fkn tray icon, when there are so many other issues out there to complain about.. Personally i dont care if my tray is 17 miles long, if my GPUs are churning out stuff at Peak efficiency with no artifacts and errors and stuff.. i mean.. Seriously... Im kind of wow'd at 3/4 of this threads issues with a friggin tray icon..

    -Yes, there annoying
-Sure it shouldn't be there if you dont have anything to unplug..
-Yes you can hide it if you want (How do you use windows for 20 years and NOT know how to hide a tray icon)..

Comon guys, your all better then that.

    :D

Heh, I feel reverted back to a year ago when I already stopped updating drivers with my aging 580.

And weirdly enough, 361.43 has solved the 144Hz idle clock issue for me. There's only spikes when I switch to browser, but as I let it sit there it returns to 135MHz core clock (RAM at 162 or something). No need to update for me personally.

Hm, maybe it installs only in Win10?

A side effect of the TB3 hot plug option. I thought that's easy to get from the release notes.

Well, it would be nice to know what it does 'cause if it doesn't do anything of value then I can just delete it.

You hear wrong, there are numerous reports of better performance in RotTR with this driver. And what you've linked isn't driver related.

I've got the same thing. The 'Safely Remove Hardware' with it showing the GTX980Ti as being a removable (ejectable) device.

Well lads, at least we can eject our GPU's, new feature. I Bet when we hit eject, the card will pop up from the PCIE slot, with a hidden spring, right into ur face :))

It worked for me, however I get spikes that stick around for quite a while when I use browser.

Is it? Idk, all those gpus are DX11+, not exactly legacy.

Anyway, I don't have that USB remove thingy.. Could be Maxwell specific.

I don't think that will happen anytime soon (wouldn't be logical) considering they're still working on DX12 for 400/500-series GPU's.
